Regarding the NZ card being used, I didn't say it's illegal. Just that if it spreads and the company finds out then they might end up blocking it. That's all.

Does anyone have the list of IPs that need to go through the VPN for Hulu to work? Hulu.com doesn't seem to be enough because I guess the videos stream from another server.

I'm using the Astrill app in DD-WRT.

When I look it seems Hulu uses Amazon S3. But I have also found that Hulu works fine with just a proxy service like unblock-us. Even when the ISP uses a transparent proxy.

A couple of questions I have

Does Netflix stream in HD over your pc when available???

If I sign up to Netflix and want to use it on my Xbox would my Gamertag be a issue since my console linked to the NZ region???

Would using unblock-us work to bypass the above (in regards to the Xbox)???

If I'm gonna sign up for these sort of services then I need to know i'm not just wasting time and money doing so if I can't use as above.

^ you would need to create an US gamertage with xbox live gold subscription added to it as well to watch Netflix or Hulu Plus on the Xbox.

Unblock.us works fine with Xbox

Do whatever you want to do man.

Oh so I would need to vreate a whole new GT and then put that on live just to be able to use a service I'm not sure I actually want (if using on Xbox this is).

For the PC I take it it's just a case of using something like a VPN or Unblock-us then just sign up and pay my $7.99USD or do I need a valid US address as part of this process??? That shouldn't be a problem as I can use my mother in laws in Vegas (hopetfully hehe).

Yep, I've found Netflix streams in HD (PC and PS3) even though I use a VPN and only have a ~4Mb/s internet connection.

But if you use unblock_us and your ISP uses a transparent proxy you might find you won't be able to stream anything on a PC while the PS3 and other clients will work fine.

Actually no. If you set up a US Live account, install netflix you should then be able to access netflix via all other profiles. I use this all the time with Unblock-us service

And are you using an ISP with a transparent proxy or not? I think you might have missed that little point.

I'm on Telecom and yes they seem to have a transparent proxy. Can't watch anything on port 80 but netflix works fine on ipad, PS3, Apple TV and Xbox. Unblock-US works great.

I use both unblock and I am trialling a VPN (I have a one month trial of overplay). As noted transparent proxies kills port 80 access but for devices it's fine. The vpn overcomes that.

But I am trialling the VPN only because there are times I want to view Hulu content on my browser. That by rights should not work at all with the transparent proxy but it actually works sporadically. When it fails the message is not a geo restriction message but an apology that the content is currently not available. Also when the viewing does work, the ads sometimes don't play and I get a message about the ad could not be displayed.

With the VPN all this goes away but I haven't done enough research to determine if the VPN is slower than unblock.

But one thing the VPN offers is mobility. I have been able to install the VPN on my Galaxy Nexus and watch Netflix on the road over the 2D 3G network. That is actually quite usable. I haven't worked out how much data is consumed watching a 45 minute TV show yet but ICS does have some counters that give some data.
