- The stream has some fairly decent compression artifacts on areas that are "not action", basically the grass looks like s**t most of the time - this is actually more of a distraction that you may think!
Yes, I see that too. I watch F1, and thats primo on SS. I see that grass artifacts on SkySportNow as well. Given that F1 is primo and RWC has these artefacts that would seem to point to the source feed. Interesting that you noticed the grass issue no one else has
NzBeagle: Less than 6 mins left here, and I can't be certain that this is the sole reason, but after advice here to go from my CC2 to a Refurbished CC Ultra, and I've had enjoyable quality, including in this game, so far.
VF Fibre, CC Ultra, WiFi.
On the surface it sounds like 60fps capability?

Agreed that grass seems to be a lower priority in the stream. Noticeably, but fine in the scheme of things.
Yes, its not ideal but its just grass! But tonight JPN vs IRE there are no grass artifact issues
japan v ireland
amazing match but its really disappointing how they immediately cut to a massive ad break at the final ref whistle.
you dont see any post match celebrations. Its actual low how they just cant WAIT to get the ads in
streaming is going great though.
Even a few artefacts can’t detract from what just happened! Japan beating Ireland. But I’d love an explanation of the few times the resolution did drop during the game (AppleTV4 on Spark Fibre).

How many? How many in the second half? I saw one in half 1, nine in half 2, half 2 was 10/10
Spark Fibre, ATV4
Is it fair to say that we will NOT be able to watch any of the popular matches uninterrupted? Its obvious its related to load or something similar since there were not many issues during the mid-week games! I've lost count of the amount of quality drops. Still happenning during the interviews. The stream has been solid with 1 or 2 glitches!
Im on gig on 2degrees in Wellington.
My parents in Auckland on Vodafone experienced a fairly similar experience. Not as many quality drops but eventually a complete dropout.

I’m not familiar enough with how this all works, but if it’s coming in from overseas on a Saturday night here, when the international gaming (and probably streaming as well) is at its heaviest, would that make a difference?

So, that was the first full match I've watched on Spark (Japan v Ireland) without flicking around different apps/settings etc. Overall it was impressive throughout. Less grass issues than earlier* and absolutely no buffering or quality-drops. Still not convinced about the framerate -- but I really hope they have sorted the aforementioned issues with Sony Android TVs from a software development point of view. I would like to know that either via the Spark app or via Chromecast built-in I am getting 1080p60.
*I reckon either they are running a "quality" configuration on key games or it had something to do with the algorithm being optimized for an artificial light versus daylight pitch.
Disappointing that there's very little in the way of in-app functionality. For example something as basic as being able to bring up the pool-stage draw.

Thanks for all these pixels, Spark Sport... The quality of JPN vs IRE is pretty bad - DishTV A2 Recorder, ethernet, Gigabit fibre:
You know things get pixilated when you blow them up right?...

Samsung QLED 2017 model connected via ethernet and 2D 100Mbit fibre. IRE vs JPN match was flawless, looks great at 1080p 60fps. I would say as good or better than Sky Sports.
