lchiu7: Out of interest can somebody guide me to how to setup a HBO Now account?

I tried on my wife's iPhone but could not see the app in the store. I then found the app in the iTunes app store on my PC (I was using Unotelly) but even after I transferred it to her phone, when I started it up, it said I need to purchase the application.

Is it possible to actually purchase the app from the app store from a phone? That would be easier. Do I need a VPN, a DNS service and/or a US iTunes account (I have that but my wife's iPhone is attached to her own NZ accoount).

Thanks

I probably can't be too much help, as I set mine up directly on my Apple TV. But I would imagine you'd need to have a US iTunes account, your wife's phone logged into that account, and a US VPN or DNS configured on her phone to use during the sign up process.

I have all those but my main worry is if I add my iTunes account to my wife's phone, will it delete her own account (not that she's bought anything from the App store anyway that costs money). But then she doesn't use iCloud for backup of her account and for photos she uses Google+ so apps can always be loaded again if the account is changed.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

You can run multiple iTunes accounts on one device - I log in and out of several on my iPad. It just gets messy if you download apps from several of them and need to keep switching from one to the other to run the updates.

The device can also sometimes be confused if you switch between accounts for different regions. Sometimes even a reboot won't fix it. So while it is possible, caveat emptor definitely applies. Especially if it's your wife's device.

That's what scares me :-(  Maybe if I add my account to her phone, do the VPN thing and download the app. Then register an account hopefully getting a logon and password. Then I can remove the account and use the logon details to view content use Playlater on my PC.

Interesting, it's the day after the trial expired now, I got notification from Apple that the subscription to HBO Now was on hold 24 hours ago (no funds in my US account) and yet and I can still access it. Streaming is now back to full quality again too.

Just as a report: I signed up for the trial yesterday on my Apple TV (VPN, US iTunes account). Streaming was fine - nice HD picture, only one point where it dropped the quality down. I've got a big projection screen setup so it's highly visible when the quality changes. Only diff from Netflix was that Netflix seems to often start on a lower quality stream and then up the quality, whereas the HBO stream just dropped down at one point partway through.

To add to my post. I found a willing person to allow me to add my (US) iTunes account to their iPad, bought HBO Now and downloaded it. Got over the region issue because I happen to be in the US at the moment :-)

Signed up for HBO Now on the app. That worked fine but alas the free trial is only 7 days now.

Then added the HBO Now account to this program,  www.playlater.com and I was able download shows from HBO Now to watch later without using IOS device.

That's nice.

However at $14.95/month not entirely sure I will continue.

Looking at subscribing to HBO Go. As have have Nexflix and with HBO can drop Sky completely.

Question has anyone got US itunes cards from following site http://www.mygiftcardsupply.com. Are they ok and legit.

Or is there better places to pick them up from.

I've always got them from http://itunesdirect.com.au and never had a problem.

I've used buyfrompowerseller (I think that's the name but can't look it up from work) and found them to be pretty good. I don't need to anymore though because my US iTunes account accepted my AirNZ OneSmart debit card (with US currency wallet) so now I just use that.

Sweet I might try my OneSmart card as well. Wonder if I can load my $500 worth of air points on it and use them.

I've used that company too prior to Netflix launching in NZ. Site looks a bit dodgy, but I'd definitely recommend them if your credit card isn't accepted directly by the service provider.
