The grass issue is simply their algorithm being optimized for bitrate over quality. The system observes large areas of a single colour and applies less detail in that area of the screen. It's fairly distracting, but I suspect tweaking that up would cause additional complaints regarding inability to stream acceptably.

It is fairly distracting, but not many have mentioned it here. Till the other day it was literally just me. The USA game yesterday, didnt have it, although I only caught the last 5 minutes

I don't find grass distracting.  I remember Sky in the SD days for sports when the grass look terrible.   I don't notice on Sky or Spark  HD these days.

I wonder how long it will take for stuff to blame the super typhoon on Spark Sports due to some games being canceled?

Just received:

As passionate rugby fans, the team at Spark Sport are gutted that the New Zealand vs Italy and England vs France Rugby World Cup 2019 matches scheduled for Saturday evening have been cancelled. We understand that World Rugby had a difficult decision to make and the safety of the players, officials and fans is paramount.

The Ireland vs Samoa match is still scheduled for Saturday night as normal, with coverage starting on Spark Sport at 11:15, kick off at 11:45pm. At this stage all other Rugby World Cup matches are due to play as scheduled, but the weather situation in Japan is clearly evolving and we will update if this changes.

We know that passionate Spark Sport rugby fans were looking to enjoy a Saturday night packed with great rugby action, so Spark Sport has teamed up with TVNZ to bring New Zealanders a special 90-minute show, ‘RWC 2019 The Story So Far’, which will be simulcast LIVE on Spark Sport and TVNZ 1 from 7pm on Saturday 12th October. This will also be available on demand on Spark Sport shortly thereafter.

Spark Spark must be really pissed at the cancellation of the AB’s game due to the typhoon this weekend.

This was their really big chance to prove once and for all that ‘rain fade ‘ cannot affect streaming - and they’ve lost that opportunity. Very sad for them. 😛

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

I feel that the show they and TVNZ are putting on will be a 10/10. I, as a rugby watcher and mild fan, that hasn't watched every step of every game, is looking forward to that. They don't need to full that gap, they can re run RWC footage, but they are doing what Sky has been superb at, production, beyond the event or game or match

This is my biggest concern with Spark Sport getting the cricket (Not really spark sport but more having it streamed)

The Namibia vs Canada Rugby World Cup 2019 match scheduled for Sunday evening has been cancelled. As a level 5 evacuation order is still in place following Typhoon Hagibis, World Rugby have made the decision to cancel the match.

A decision on the three other Rugby World Cup matches scheduled to play this evening (USA vs Tonga, Wales vs Uruguay and Japan vs Scotland) is still pending from World Rugby. Spark Sport advises customers to check our social media channels for further updates.

Fans keen for more rugby viewing can enjoy Spark Sport’s impressive collection of rugby content including all other 33 Rugby World Cup 2019 pool matches played to date; ‘The 1014’ rugby analysis show featuring Gareth Dinneen and Steven Prescott; ‘The Kick’ which tells the story of Spark Sport commentator and ex-All Black, Stephen Donald; as well as some of the most legendary matches from previous Rugby World Cups.

Sco v JPN had an excellent picture, really amazing actually.

Unfortunately, Wales v Uraguay wasn't nearly as good and I could hear two commentaries at times.

I am not sure the difference, whether it was at the sending end or something happening at the Spark end.

I am wondering if the cameras at some venues aren't as good?

It's super frustrating that Spark don't show the post match interviews in every game. It's not too much to ask, that at least the two captains be allowed to be interviewed for 30 seconds. Japan got interviewed not once but twice, Scotland, nothing.

This weekend will be the biggest test of Spark Sport to date, with the highest number of concurrent streams they will have for the next 2-3 years at least.

Will they have all to familiar issues? I think we will see the same results as the opening match

Panasonic 65GZ1000, Onkyo RZ730, Atmos 5.1.2, AppleTV 4K, Nest Mini's, PS5, PS3, MacbookPro, iPad Pro, Apple watch SE2, iPhone 15+

The opening match wasn't about congestion.

It was built for 500,000+, its reached 140's max? FTA will be kicking in now as well. Anyone aware of what SSN issue's were caused by?
