My understanding is that the SFs and GF games are on TVNZ? So...that's the end of anyone actually needing to use Spark Sport?

Provided you have a working aerial so don't rely on TVNZ on demand to receive TVNZ.  (As I found out to my annoyance on Saturday night lol - yes I know I should have looked into it before then)

Mostly - if you have freeview via broadcast. I bought a FreeView SmartVU device, based on being able to stream the channels live, but you can't see the games via that - you have to install the Spark Sport App in that situation.

I don’t know whether this has been discussed earlier here but the SS website FAQ says “You can stream Spark Sport on one device at a time, but you can switch between devices at any time”.

This does not appear to be correct. My brother just told me he had it going on two devices at the same time over the weekend. I just tried it and, sure enough, I can watch RWC on LG TV and on iPad - both at the same time.

I think this was mentioned a while back. As in yes it should be like that but it doesn't matter right now, or thoughts to that effect.

Surely most people would? When digital came in you needed an aerial. Streaming came later

Mine quit working about 3 years ago and I never bothered to fix it since I pretty much never watch TV and on demand has me covered for the very rare occasion I do...  Only found out on Saturday night around midnight they weren't actually streaming the game through on demand. Makes sense in hindsight I suppose but that possibility didn't even occur to me before then (I even confirmed on demand was working OK earlier in the day lol)

I have no idea whether my house has an aerial on it. I've lived there 6 years but haven't watched tv delivered by an aerial since I first got satelite Sky back in perhaps 2005?

True, Sky people had no need. Ive had Sky forever too, but I did get an aerial, that was pre Sky. Oddly, where we moved, new house "we only stream" it had an aerial and booster and coax in 12 rooms lol. We have a Panny HDD Recorder and Freeview over terrestrial and its a darn nice picture

The Spark Sport website mentions the names of their commentators and analysts - but the commentators named are only those for the AB games - where Spark adds its commentary. They don’t say who the commentators are for other games where they take someone else’s commentary.

There’s one main commentator for the ‘other’ games who has (I think) a Scottish accent. IMO his commentaries are inane and superficial and - just a personal thing - they irritate the hell out of me and spoil the experience. I would pretty much rather mute the TV and watch without him.

Last night I got so sick of it during the WAL v FRA game I switched to ITV live sport, via the ITV website, on our LG TV’s browser and watched it there with much more acceptable English commentators. The quality of the AV was excellent.

I have watched a couple of the games on ITV hub, and agree, re quality, it excellent, so it makes one think that purhaps something is not quite right in istreamplanet!!! and there streaming tech, or purhaps the way the Spark apps are built.

I watched the AB games on ITV Hub on an Android phone cast to a 60" TV and it was fine.  And (this is a personal view of course) I much preferred their commentary to the one that Spark Sport provides.

A lot of people never put a UHF antenna up when VHF broadcasts stopped because Sky and/or streaming filled their needs.

Streaming didn't exist.

Rabbit ears was an option though. IIRC that could be ok, or not, YMMV
