I tried to signup late on saturday night for the PLP $150 package. But I got trumped at the signup part. I needed a telephone number which I provided but it was still giving me an error, so that was a bit annoying. I was using an ipad mini to signup so not sure if that was the issue? Anyone else see something similar?

Anyhow I found a stream, on my PC,  and watched the Liverpool game. Quality could have been better but it done the job. So then I didn't try yo signup on my PC.

For those that woke up on the Sunday morning to watch there team on demand. Could you get to the game and load up ready to watch without seeing the score of the game anywhere beforehand? That way you could enjoy the game without knowing the score, that is the difficulty I have with this but if I could do this I still might seriously think of signing up.

gunnerpc:
In this thread there seems to be two or three types of people.
1. Are the group who were already watching their football from illegal streams on their laptops or something similar. As such PLP is a fantastic product for them.
2. People who were watching on full HD via mysky, and of course PLP is inferior to them.
3. Die hard fans (likely mainly expats) that must watch their team, and will put up with anything to do it.

4. The poor buggers who supported teams that were essentially ignored by Sky.

Yep, there's a show/hide scores button on the home page. Apparently it remembers your decision.

gunnerpc: I live in a 1920's house, which doesn't have CAT6E wiring throughout, I have to do most of the internet via WIFI, I expect that a few people have similar situations to me.
The only way I can see that I can get a better quality to my TV in the lounge, is to hard wire the internet. I don't want to do this, it will cost a fortune.

I watched via Wi-Fi through a WRT54G2 - no wireless 'N' for me. I was able to watch at 3000kbps so no you don't need a hard wired network which of course is well under the 54Mbps that the wireless router can cope with.

Procrastination eventually pays off.

Apsattv: I took a look using the tiger promo code, Interesting?

stream url when the game was live
http://nlds5.cdnak.lon.neulion.com/nlds/coliseum/westhamunited/as/live/westhamunited_hd_3000/20130817/13/5756.mp4

some fiddling around, and I came up with

(400x224) http://nlds5.cdnak.lon.neulion.com/nlds/coliseum/westhamunited/as/live/westhamunited_hd_400.m3u8
(640x360) http://nlds5.cdnak.lon.neulion.com/nlds/coliseum/westhamunited/as/live/westhamunited_hd_800.m3u8
(640x360) http://nlds5.cdnak.lon.neulion.com/nlds/coliseum/westhamunited/as/live/westhamunited_hd_1200.m3u8
(960x540) http://nlds5.cdnak.lon.neulion.com/nlds/coliseum/westhamunited/as/live/westhamunited_hd_1600.m3u8
(1280x720) http://nlds5.cdnak.lon.neulion.com/nlds/coliseum/westhamunited/as/live/westhamunited_hd_3000.m3u8

all of which played fine in VLC without logging in.... and could be played by overseas friends with no account.... as did other live games

example

I see Fulham-Arsenal is the TV One game next weekend. This has possibly been answered earlier, but for anyone who watched the TV One game this week, was it in HD or was it just the 3000kbps PLP web stream? And were there ad breaks during the game or just at half time? Got the choice of that or the Arsenal TV version at the same time so would probably be good to go for the one with the proper commentators.

@hattrick123: The sign-up form for PLP has ridiculous validation on the phone numbers. You have to type them in exactly or it won't work. And the example validation doesn't show up on iPhone or iPad due to crappy web development.

My Christchurch office is IP-blocked by Premier League Pass so I can't connect to the site to check. Try it from a non-iOS browser and the format required should become obvious.

Even that isn't true. I had to try so many different variations as what they gave as the correct format didn't work either. It is probably one of the dumbest processes I've ever had to do on sign up. Goes hand in hand with what has essentially been a useless product to date.

Watched 4-5 games and the quality seems similar (or even better) when comparing to Sky sports SD and consumed 10GB data.

I had my house wired with gigabit network during previous renovation (Cat 6 cables + Cat 5E patch panel + gigabit router). Also bought some PC parts to build a completely new HTPC (i3 3225, 8GB ram, onboard graphics, old SATA 250GB hdd) just for watching the games (i.e. no other applications running at the background)

Not much to complain apart from the website should be much more user friendly as my folks finding it a bit difficult to click the link on the big tv.

Pretty sure it was HD. It was magnificent compared to PLP.
Yes there were ads throughout the game.
And the game had the usual "Sky" commentators.

I too am an Arsenal Fan. I will be watching the free to air TV One option. Arsenal TV never kicked off until 2pm on Sunday, due to all the preamble. Those commentators were in dream land too. This was commentary gold @ 2 - 1. Arsenal are still in this game, sure we are 2-1 down with 10 men, but we can still win this. I actually laughed out loud.

Thanks for that. Yeah think I'll go for the TV One choice as it will have the proper commentators and will be 2 hours earlier. Ads during the game will be annoying, how frequent were they? I might record with the My Sky and start it at 12.25 so I can fast forward the ads.

What's the issue with the phone number for signing up to PLP? Surely it's just a string of numbers, so as long as a valid area code is used why is that hard for them to accept?

I didn't have any issue with my phone number, just entered it as suggested.

I briefly watch the TV One game on Sunday, its definitely HD.

The ads in the TVOne game were not bad and from memory there was only one break in the middle of each half which I can live with for the joy of watching a match a) Free b) on the TV and c) in HD

When I signed up for the Free pass, I only entered in my name and email address. Nothing else, despite all of the "*" saying it was mandatory.
I was able to log in and use it too.
