Does anyone know if the lack of ethernet on the new Fire TV 4K box is an issue?  I have a gen1 with ethernet which works reasonably well, and was thinking of moving the older Fire TV to another room and upgrading our lounge device with the newer model.  But if the streaming performance on wifi isn't that great, I might leave it.  We have reasonably good wifi (with the AP just on the other side of the lounge wall), but I'm still wary of seeing a drop in performance using wifi instead of ethernet.

It all comes down to your environment really. If you have an AP nearby, with no interference around then it is more than enough. If you have 5GHz even better.

If the AP is in another room and the environment has dozens of other SSID, then not so much. It needs a bit of planning...

You can buy an Ethernet adapter for about $15 USD if you need one.

Frustrating that the Echo Spot has never been on sale (that I have noticed)

That's the one I would want bedside and on my desk.

How embarrassing :-) You're right of course. It's kinda unreasonable for me to expect specials on an item that hasn't been released... I GUESS. :-)

I notice Echo Dot gets the best reviews by far, could this simply be because it does the main things for a cheap price?

Is the system better than Cortana? Ive had no issues on my windows phone. But I use android as well and this could be quite useful.

So does it use your mobile or can it use Skype calls due to price?

I was going to say wouldnt it be hand if you could plug your Android Tablet into it and then noticed it has an app haha.

How hard are the automated lightbubls etc to get hold of in new zealand? I have light dimming, but rarely use it, if i didnt have to get up Id probably use that. But I have all flush downlights.

My spot hit shipito yesterday so I've sent it on with the cheap post option.

How's the Fire Stick TV for Netflix in NZ? Is there something better?

Slightly prefer Ethernet but have WiFi close. Not a huge fan of things that have to plug into the side of the TV and have USB for power, as it's messy - I'd rather put inside the AV cabinet, where my toddler can grab it...
