timmmay: All these watch type devices are fine for guys, but how many women will stop wearing their pretty watches and wear devices? Maybe during exercise, but not all the time.

My wife wants a stylish bangle that tells her when her phone is ringing in her bag. The http://cuff.io comes close I think but there is not much else out there.

Looking at getting a surge. I have an aria and really like it.

Does the surge use caller id from an Iphone?
Anyone tried one and tested the accuracy with the gps?

Wife got a Garmin VivoSmart in the end. The notification functionality over the Fitbit secured it. Very impressive. Almost wonder if my pebble is overkill. Black band is pretty discreet. She got it mostly for notifications.

I have the flex and the aria scales and love the app/environment for activity tracking on fitbit. I was very excited about the Surge but just about everything appears to be a big disappointment. I isnt big enough, it isnt waterproof enough, it doesn't used GPS to track distance (dumb), it offers no cycle mode that works, the clock isn't always on screen, and that's just a few of the many issues. DC Rainmaker's review is probably the best one I've read so far but all it has done is convince me that the up-coming Garmin epix or Vivoactive are probably the only worthy upgrades.....which is a real shame as I like fitbit a lot.

I think once the XL version is available and they have had enough time to tweak what they can in the software then it might become a reasonable device for the price, but then I think by that time they will already be closer to a second generation model.

I'm wearing a Garmin Vivosmart permanently and I absolutely adore it. Two other girls at my office have since also purchased them since they saw mine. It just looks like a plain black band with a tap-to-wake display. In fact, the low profile, smooth black surface was the main deciding factor for me between this and the Fitbit. Battery lasts about a week between charges, and it is water resistant up to 50m so I don't have to worry about swimming with it.

Regular watches are so 20th century :P

Contacted the local distributors for Fitbit yesterday and they confirmed that my Surge had been shipped a week ago and was waiting at my local post shop. Another instance where the courier failed to leave a card.

Anyway, happy as a pig in sh1t!. Wearing my new Fitbit device as a watch and will report back on its progress in a couple of days.

I've been using a Fitbit Flex for a few months now.

Really like it, apart from the "bulk" when wearing a shirt with french cuffs and cufflinks. It's hard to get comfortable under the sleeve and looks out of place beyond the sleeve.

It recently stopped playing nice with the iOS app, but a quick reset as per the FAQ on Fitbit's site got me back up and running.

I really like a nice metal watch (and own a dozen + watches), so couldn't see myself going down the full smartwatch route, as I'd look silly with that on one wrist an a normal watch on the other...and I don't like the idea of being stuck with just one watch.

I bought the Fitbit HR and have had it about 10 days now. So far only had to charge it twice now, so I'm pretty impressed with the battery life so far.

I have had the charge hr for about a month. Really happy with it so far. I still need to enter my stride lengths for running and walking as it is currently under calculating distance.

I charge it while I shower each day and this has been enough to keep it going without worrying about running out of charge.
