surfisup1000: Thailand comes to mind.
I'm tempted to move back to the UK for a while to get my rotten wisdom teeth extracted for free by student dentists on the NHS.
Hi all
I'm an early middle aged adult and had a couple of complimentary orthodontic assessments. Something a dentist said I should consider. Both were $6-$7K once treatment started
One recommended long term orthodontics and said 2 extractions are probably required (tbc with xrays) and the other suggested short term orthodontics and no extractions as they said they don't believe in that. It appears the Orthodontic community is split on that. My view is only if necessary i.e. no alternatives to get the best result
1. Did anyone find they required bite correction due to what is called incorrect Occlusion ?
2. Has anyone had their braces adjusted at a different practice to who fitted them i..e because they had them fitted overseas or moved town ? one practice inquired with said this is common since people move and were happy to do that preferably if all the information is provided
Glassboy: Who are the braces advising?
The one using bad grandma in the title.... :-)
Well, spelling, but bad grandma is funnier.
Its so common. I get typo's but many instances bad spelling and grammar these days
Zeon: So just an update guys - she decided to go the NZ root.

It's (contraction) and typos (plural).
Just saying...

Dingbatt: As someone who has terrible crooked teeth (parents couldn't afford orthodontic treatment when I was a teenager) your girlfriend will not regret the decision to get this done. The expense and pain may seem excruciating at the moment but it will be worth it for self esteem reasons alone.
That really depends on the individual. I have what could be described as terrible crooked teeth but it has never really bothered me. I have to be a bit more careful with oral hygiene, but it's not an issue once it becomes habit.
For kids it's generally worth getting it done so that they can have a lifetime of benefit from it, but for adults I think each individual needs to make their own independent judgement about how the costs and benefits stack up.
