I'm about to have to chuck out two ~four year old Oral B 3000s for having dung batteries. They work absolutely fine otherwise.

Don't suppose there's anything a bit more sustainable on the market, i.e. user replaceable batteries?

My other bugbear with them is that they take foreeever to charge. Like 24+ hours. Seems unnecessary in 2016.

Oral-B Triumph. Have had it since it first came out many years ago and it is still going strong. Battery probably not holding the charge for as long but still works

I think Oral B seems to be the most common of electric toothbrushes and they do a good job. I like the little pulsing thing that mine does every 30s that guides you to change sides of your teeth. Not sure if the most basic does that - Think it does.

The heads are stupidly expensive, but sometimes they have random specials.

Noticed countdown had a pack of 5 heads for $15 just recently - the normal price was somethng like twice that.

The batteries do expire after a while - I guess water and mouth gunk gets down into them as well - a couple of years seems the normal lifespan. I suepct even if yyou could change the battery yourself, they would be pretty gunked up inside - so probably better to replace.
