As somebody who suffers from severe allergies I will say your symptoms don't fully match these. While some could be allergy related pain everywhere or a body ache is not related to allergies.

My first ever AM radio network connection was with a 1MHz AM crystal(OA91) radio receiver.

Thanks for the observations. I did get a flu jab. I have every year since I turned 65 and I have never had even a sniffle. That is one of the reasons I was so shocked by the severity and suddenness of this attack. I don't normally get out in public a lot but I do remember that I had to take someone to the ED on the Saturday before I became ill (Tuesday evening) so possibly I picked up something there.

Anyway, thanks  to everyone for the concern and tips. It is definitely improving now. I am on the mend and I'm sure I will be fine by Monday. It was quite a ride.

Flu jab only attempts immunity for i think one strain of influenza virus. There are other strains, AND more importantly, other viruses.

Thanks. I'm aware  of that. I was just answering the question and pointing out that this kind of thing has never happened before.

The flu vaccine has multiple strains and is typically decided based on the strains that are predominant in the world at the time so it changes every year.

There's evidence that some level of cross-immunity occurs, so that even if the strain you're exposed to wasn't in the vaccine, your immune system kicks in better and you get a less severe dose.

There's also some compelling evidence that low vitamin D levels increase both the severity and duration of symptoms of colds and influenza,  and this time of year is when your vitamin D levels may be lowest.

One of my friends is a GP.  He seems to get every flu not included in the vaccine from his patients - then of course I get it when he drops over to whine to a non-medical person about feeling sick.  I burn incense and wear a necklace of garlic - but it never seems to work, At least I get free advice - "oh that's HxNx blah blah strain you got from me - they missed that in the vaccine".  Last one a month or two ago was a parainfluenza virus, very unpleasant. Felt like 'flu to me, but no sore throat to start, and no fever. Felt like crap for a few days.

So where is @Rikkitic  ? - and I hope all is going well - feeling better.

Yep, banned for excessively colourful language, then forgiven. But I have decided to tone it down anyway. Thanks @fred99 for your concern. I am feeling better but still have a way to go. Doc confirmed it was a virus even though I had the flu jab. It has been a rough ride. I still feel fairly washed out but am definitely improving.

Tempting, but I wasn't feverish, just in a bad mood. My inability to restrain my mouth is entirely my own.

Generous of you but I think some others here would probably disagree. Anyway, I have done my penance. Let us all move on from this unfortunate episode.

Just like being sent to the HR Office for the obligatory dressing down.
