They were making feed for hatchlings in NZ, the mercury levels in NZ fishmeal were considered to be too high.  Protein content was too low from NZ fishmeal from waste.  IIRC the company making it was Salmon Services.

The amount of mercury in the diet is reduced now that salmon diet is using mainly vegetable protein, so higher levels in the base fishmeal can probably be got away with.

There have been concerns about mercury in NZ fishmeal used for pig food.

Natural astaxanthin is used in some finished food products - it's expensive.  Wild salmon is seldom the deep colour of farmed salmon.

In my opinion these supplements make for really expensive urine.

I probably wouldn't bother unless a doctor told me I needed to. Because of a deficiency. If you are eating a good nutritional diet, then the average person does not need to supplement too much of it. Some people are deficient or have problems with parts of their body in which case a supplement can help. But for the most part people spend far too much money on them.

I used to take fish oil. I didn't really notice any difference.

Now I sometimes take vitamin c when I am feeling a bit drowsy, and magnesium when my muscles are sore. I generally try to get goodness of lots of vegetables, and nuts etc and high protein into my diet. My body doesn't have problems absorbing the goodness from most foods so I guess in that sense I am somewhat fortunate.

Some supplements will help people. However I have heard from many sources that fish oil is not a particularly good one.
