I have them, and they are fantastic.  My wife cannot cope with white noise but I need it to sleep.  These are a game changer for me.  The noise level is significantly quieter than a phone doing white noise.  They are designed specifically to not enter the inner ear.  I used to use ear plugs and had all sorts of issues with those, but not with the sleepbuds

I found the sleepbuds quite good when I was dealing with anti-social neighbours a couple of years ago, at least until the behaviour became really extreme.

I've got Bose Sleepbuds and find them fantastic. The alarm works well (I wake up first time) and I've found that I am able to get to sleep far easier too.

Price is the only factor, but I've had no regrets with my pair.

Might be overkill in your case but I'll mention it anyway.

Google Nest or Home speakers have this option.

Relax with your Google Nest or Home speaker or display

I use it with Rain sounds when I go to sleep.

Yep, another vote for this; I typically use (on a Hub) 'rain' or 'river', and an advantage is it's easy to specify a time length (eg 'hey Google, play river sounds for 30 minutes').

Also works via Google Assistant on a phone etc, but I found the sound is somewhat tinnier given the lack of lower frequencies.

A key advantage of this (or a machine) versus playing tracks on Spotify or similar is they are often fairly short, and even if put on repeat the short gap before it repeats was enough to disturb me.

I gave ASMR a try out of interest a while back and, man, do I find it irritating if not downright creepy! (Especially involving any voice - can't work out how that can help zoning out.) I remember reading at the time it apparently particularly appealed to younger gens, which may explain why I don't get it!

Yeah, there is people making a quick buck on the trend (adverts in the middle and so on). And the voiced ones creep me out too. As do randoms with a good Mic and like smiling and tapping things while wearing vinyl ponchos. Yeah, NO!.

Depends on who puts in the effort. I've found a main channel that does 2 variants of each, voiced. And silent. She only has ads at pre-start. And the silence ones are just that. Long subject focused. Flicking through a paper, cutting out the coupons etc. Reading a book and just turning pages now and then etc. Packing a bag for a trip so you get zipper noises and rustling cloth.

All much to complicated. Google Homedics clock radio. Its what we have and use. We have an old model but the new one does everything you want and more, only about $40.

Turning a fan on in the room has the same effect, and the slightly cooler feel of the moving air helps with sleeping as well.

Ah, just worked out you're probably using 'Google' in the sentence above as a verb not a noun - here I was thinking you were talking about a Homedics product with Google capabilities/involvement!

1-day often has first-gen Google Minis for cheap - I think they were $15 yesterday - and they'll do the job fine; can always keep the mic off by default and only turn on to set if you're worried about the ever-present listening...

Relax Melodies. This app is one of the best for Apple & Android devices.

I use the free version and its great. The only down side is sifting through the ample premium content, to find the best free content.

I'd recommend you look at the guided meditations, many are tailored towards sleep.

Thanks for your feedback everyone, I did think of a bluetooth speaker but wrote that idea off as I have not found bluetooth speakers with great volume control, they seem to go in big volume steps, it might just be the cheap ones I have used.

I did not think of google nest but I am wary of google as there have been so many security and privacy breached, they are always listening and there was the incidents when you could play back other peoples audio.

I thought a dock would be good but seem to be about 10 years too late.

I will look at some of the devices that people have suggested.

You can physically disable the microphone in most nest devices, so there is no listening.

I listen to a 10hr rain video on YouTube pretty much every night on my galaxy buds live. They are the only earbuds that are unnoticeable in my ears when I'm lying on my pillow.

This is what is great about the bose sleepbuds - you don't really notice them. You get the audio and even if your phone disconnects the sound continues and your alarm still goes off through them. I've found in the ~4mo of me using them I've only had 2 incidents of one of them falling out.

Oh, and my cat has to think up more creative ways of waking me up. Normally it was noise, but lately it has been tapping my hand.

Bluetooth Sleepphones at $140, versus Bose Sleepbuds at $420.

I have no doubt the Bose are the better product, but are they 3x as good?

Bose do offer a 90-day money back guarantee via website which is great, but currently out-of-stock. Harvey Norman sell them, but without the 90-day risk free trial, so not an option for me.

The Bose Sleepbuds have the sounds loaded directly on them, the alarms directly on them (so actually don't need a connection to your phone) and also block out sound. I'd say they're worth it. A tonne of thought has gone into them and they're certainly a premium product (the charging case is awesome) but if you're a light sleeper like me, or find it hard to shut off your brain (also me) these are awesome as you don't notice them.

They're 2 different products here. Sleepphones are literally bluetooth headphones where the Sleepbuds are not (nor can you play music through them).

They do go on deals from time to time:

My take on them.  Took 3 days for my ears to get used to them, and now I have no issues wearing them.  The part in the ear goes to just the start of the entry so not inside the ear like normal bud earphones.  Then the moulded rubber sits inside the grooves of the outter ear. They come with 3 sizes for the entry portion, the default one was a perfect fit for me. I havent tried the alternative you are looking at, but for me I like to lie on my side and chop and change.  I would be concerned lying on your side with something protruding out would be uncomfortable.

The case has a battery in it so you can charge x2 without having that plugged into the wall - I do leave mine plugged in.  The case acts as the fastest way to turn them off, they are magnetic and slot into the case easily.  The app is good, and you can set an in ear alarm and download tons of sounds, although I always use the same one.

Are they worth it, absolutely.  I was ho humming for ages because of the price.  I got mine on sale slightly cheaper at $369 from Noel Leemings
