geoffwnz: There should be some visual indicator of nothing available as opposed to no apparent response from clicking the date…Very poor UI/UX design.

Borrowing the below from another thread - but is the visual indicator not the circles around dates with slots available? Therefore a date with no circle has no slots. The circle thing is quite common UI, eg Outlook and the Apple Calndar app both use a circle to highlight dates with events in their month views

Yes, but keep reading.  For sites/months with NO available slots, there is no indicator and the given date doesn't change.

See below.  Had changed from August that had one date, to Sept that has none and despite clicking on dates, the info text does not change.

In the first instance I tried, this was what I was presented with from the start so I had not had the benefit of a page with available dates to give me a clue there was nothing available.

Just took a look at available options; without walking too far I could get an appointment tomorrow morning.

If I had enough time I could have got several appointments today at sites a bit further out including in the next 15 minutes. Seems to be plenty of available slots in Dunedin.

Managed to book in Lower Hutt for 16 September through the website this morning. Looked through all the locations and that was the earliest appointment I could find.

I managed to book this morning, earliest I could find was 4 October, after initially getting distracted and letting the bookings for 1-3 october at the places near me fill up.

I booked a late Sept spot on Monday, which was the earliest I could find in my part of the city.  My local pharmacy had zero spots available.

On Tuesday one of my team books a spot less than a fortnight away at that same pharmacy, which had loads of spots available.  I cancelled my first appointments and re-booked there.

I chose a 10 week wait between my first and second jabs, based on some light research around the ideal spacing between them.  The standard 6 weeks is fine, but I read a slightly longer delay is a bit more effective (but also riskier in case of further outbreaks).

I an surprised they have the circles in a similar tone of grey to the background. Probably not that clear on lowered quality displays or for people with poor vision. Surely it would have been common sense to make the circles blue or gree or something.

There seems to be huge disparity in availability, if you live within walking distance of the Auckland CBD where there are MIQ sites and a large number of positive cases, you can't book a vaccine at the closest centre until October. But if appears you can get one in a lot of smaller cities/towns.

I'm happy with the six week wait between jabs, it's probably a good compromise between more effective with wider spacing vs better to be protected sooner than later with delta in the community.

Just had another look at Wellington CBD locations and managed to swap to an appointment this Saturday. Had only looked at Lower Hutt places this morning but this time just put Wellington instead of my address.

On the iPhone I could tell what dates were available by just looking at dates on months. The days that were available looked different colour to me to the days that were fully booked.

Did have to keep trying different sites though as some are booked up for months ahead. Be better if could give choice of showing all days available in area without picking site first, and then it shows available sites after picking day.

Dr Bloomfield said today that more vaccination sites will be added. I need to check the transcript but I think he said "from 80 currently to 250 in the coming weeks"

Also check Unichem's website as they have pharmacies listed that aren't included on the bookmyvaccine website where you have to call them to make an appointment.

Bargain Chemist is also a jabber away from the national system

https://www.bargainchemist.co.nz/pages/covid-19-vaccination

So we have

National listed centres/Drive ins

GPs (only accepting enrolled)

GPs (taking both via phone)

Chemists/Pharamcies using national

Chemists/Pharmacies via ring-in

Dr hurry-up/referrals using either

No wonder people are complaining they're elderly / booked since June and still a month away while youngins' are getting ahead.

I've been recommending anyone with existing local national controlled booking to call up/get online and re-check options. While some are stuck as they initially used CANVAX (cdhb - since abandoned) or their Family Clinic direct so all but locked in to the location or pharmacy chain they have been referred to

Yes the booking systems are fragmented. The best way to find vaccinators in your areas is with Healthpoint

https://www.healthpoint.co.nz/

Further to this the book my vaccine system cost the tax payer $38m. So it should be good….salesforce. https://www.hinz.org.nz/news/564440/Orion-CEO-requests-review-of-immunisation-solution-procurement-process.htm

Thanks for posting this one. I'm now booked into the Bargain Chemist Manukau branch on Friday. While it's a train trip down there to get vaccinated, when I booked using the Book My Vaccine site a few weeks ago, for an appointment for my closest vaccination centre (in the CBD), the first available vaccination times were in October.

When I booked using the Bargain Chemist web site, the web page said I had to print and sign a Covid-19 consent form. I emailed and asked them about this and they told me that verbal consent was acceptable under Level-4.

There is still one booking slot free in their Manukau shop this week and many free for next week if others are still searching.
