plas: Has anyone else bought a Charge HR? I picked one up in the weekend and I am interested to see what sort of battery life others are getting. Mine seems to be on track for lasting about 3 days, which I'm hoping is due to it being a new toy and I'm always in the app syncing or looking at the stats on the band.

Mine is lasting around 4 days before the little battery icon shows up. I very seldom push any buttons on it other than to put it into exercise mode now and again.

Wait, do you want to buy one, or become a "retail partner"? If the former that page clearly shows the current retailers. If the latter, I suspect you may find it hard to compete with the names already on that list.

I got a Fitbit Charge for my wife for xmas [well boxing day for $149.95]

Support has been interesting. Fitbit have a component of their mobile app called MobileRun/Track your Exercise which allows you to GPS track your walks etc and see it in the web site login. Fitbit to this day have never confirmed what is the minimum version of Android to support the mapping function of their Android App. I can tell you it [the mapping part] doesn't work on Android 2.3 or 2.3 but does on v4.1 or greater. When first released it required a data connection to do GPS mapping [unlike Runkeeper, Runtastic and Endmondo which don't] but recently they fixed that so one does not need a 2/3/4G data connections so good on them doing that

My wife is happy with it

Note live Sync [as opposed to mapping] requires your device to support Bluetooth LE and the associated API which many devices with BT don't

I've got a Surge and my wife has the Charge HR. Two excellent devices, both last a long time between charges.

We recently visited the South Island for a week and I attempted to save on luggage space and only packed one power cable for the Fitbit devices... because the cable must be the same, right?

NO! The power cables are very different and I was unable to re-charge my Surge.

Fortunately, the battery on my Surge lasted for six days before finally giving up. And to save power, I didn't use the GPS feature (the whole point of opting for the Surge over the Charge HR).

Yes, the power cable is a problem - every single model has different plugs, even the Charge and Charge HR are different.

I posted on Twitter today that Surge and Charge HR should use sensors and heartbeat to set the alarm for the best point the Circadian cycle. This well you wouldn't get up grumpy ;)

So, thanks to a competition, I now have a Surge (prize that I wasn't 100% convinced I wanted).

My Flex gave up the ghost a while back and was replaced with a a Charge (non HR version) as a result - due to sale prices etc it was a straight swap...the retailer was awesome in that respect.

I have given that to my wife and she's now got the Charge. She's umming and aahing over whether she would wear it, but we'll see...most of her friends have one, so she may end up getting into the "social" aspect of it (the app allows you to challenge friends to certain daily and weekly fitness goals).

Personally, I am super-surprised at how comfortable and unobtrusive the Surge is. Thanks to the mega-soft material that the strap is made from and the lightweight construction, it's barely noticeable on the wrist.

I'm still on the fence as to whether it'll replace all of my watch collection permanently - maybe I'll have to get another Flex to wear on the days I wear a normal watch - but I have become somewhat obsessed with counting my steps and general "fitness" goals.

The Surge is great for the notification aspect too - I often carry my iPhone in my suit pocket and don't hear it or feel it vibrate when a call or text comes through, so it's nice to see the notification side taken care of.

We'll see how the battery hold up over time, but it's only been a few days so far...the Charge was awesome. easily a week between charges and never ran out completely.

I am pretty happy with my new Surge so far. Have been wearing it daily and getting good use out of all the features. Had some slight issues with the battery not seeming to want to charge to full to start with, but a soft reset, long charge and the latest firmware seemed to have fixed that.

In mixed usage with maybe 2-3 hours GPS usage, I am getting around 4 days out of it. Without GPS, a full week.

Personally, I am super-surprised at how comfortable and unobtrusive the Surge is. .

Certainly comfortable enough, but not exactly discrete IMHO - it is very noticeable on the wrist and mine are big enough to have needed the XL! If I hadn't wanted the GPS for running, I would have definitely plumped for the Charge HR as it is much more unobtrusive.

It depends on how I use it - if I just wear it and don't look at the time or sync it very much I get 4-5 days. If I use it as a watch and sync it, I get about 3 days. I believe the device is capable of storing quite a few days worth of data so I tend to use it the first way.

The only reason I want one of these devices is for the silent alarm function, but I am waiting for one that is better at detecting the 'right' time to wake me up.
