freitasm: The email address is probably the keyboard adding this.

Are you connected to WiFi? Can you visit the Withings website and login there to see if it's all working? Perhaps your ISP is having problems?

I've sorted the email address issue, and I most definitely have an internet connection.
I can visit the Withings site on my phone and login to my account.

I have logged a call with support but I expect it will be a few days before I hear back from them.

This is tremendously frustrating.

Fortunately for our anniversary we went out for lunch, which meant I was able to get cellular reception.
(We went to Garrisons at Sylvia Park in Mt Wellington. They've always been OK but I must say the last few times we have been I think there has been a massive improvement in the meal quality)

So I tried the whole setup thing again using my 4G connection.
It all setup without a hitch.

Is it possible the Unotelly settings on my router was upsetting it? I think I have disabled Googles DNS to keep the PS3 and Chromecast Netflix-happy.

Possible if Withings uses a CDN and you are with Vodafone for example...

Oh, and I watched the setup video which in the end proved to be no help except I can now pronounce Activite properly.

Its not "acta-vite" as in rhymes with Marmite, but "ac-tivi-tay".

I am with Vodafone, for the moment.
If they screw up my CC payment again tomorrow I'm going to have to seriously consider changing ISP.
Whats a CDN?

A CDN (Content Distribution Network) is a series of servers around the world so that content is closer to where people need it. Because Vodafone uses a proxy and because they access some local CDN if the UnoTelly DNS says something is at a certain address but the Vodafone proxy tries to grab it using its own DNS and finds another address things fall apart.

I think I may have setup the app on my phone to count steps as well.
Not sure how to disable that and have watch-steps only.
Meanwhile, lots and lots of steps!!

When the time comes who will you be taking the watch to to have the battery replaced?
Just any old jeweler or is there a special place it has to go to?

You can do it yourself. There are instructions in the booklet.

My wife has had this watch since june this year, and just got an email from Withings warning of low battery. She has not done anything unusual, using the daily alarm and using the default sync. So the battery seems to last for only 4 months, not for the 8 they claim.

As per my comment on the review: did the watch have the battery in when removed from the package? Or perhaps it's like laptops "up to six hours" but that is with WiFi and Bluetooth off, backlight at minimum, SSD instead of HDD, etc, etc. I mean perhaps the eight months is with no alarms going on and only one sync a day? I will find soon enough then...

Yeah, I suspect its 8 months with no sync or alarms.. Pretty sure we had to pull plastic away to activate the battery, so shouldn't have used any in the packaging. Will be interesting to see how long it lasts after the change of battery.

I have seen comments other places about short battery life. Someone had only a couple of months of usage, but that was with frequent syncs etc.

I suspect I might have a short battery life as well. Bluetooth is always on because I have a few Tile tracking devices, so the Withings syncs a few times a day, every day...

Doesn't worry me too much, still better than Fitbit's five days or most smartphones at 24 - 36 hours.

Do you wear the watch all the time, or just when exercising/swimming/sleeping?
I have noticed mine isnt too flash at detecting when I am asleep.
When I take the watch off for any length of time it calls that sleeping.
And last weekend I was watching the NZ vs SA semi-final and it called that sleeping too, and I was most certainly awake and not at all relaxed.
But I still like it.

I wear it all the time, except in the shower. I try and track every step taken...

My battery lasted for about 5 months before the minute hand started slipping by a few minutes each day.

Replaced the battery and now its fine again. Never got a notification telling me the battery was low though...

I wish there was a way to disable the double tap to check your alarm time. I set this off about 5-10 times a day meaning more battery is being wasted making the hands rotate aimlessly.
