Item: I am pretty happy with my new Surge so far. Have been wearing it daily and getting good use out of all the features. Had some slight issues with the battery not seeming to want to charge to full to start with, but a soft reset, long charge and the latest firmware seemed to have fixed that.

In mixed usage with maybe 2-3 hours GPS usage, I am getting around 4 days out of it. Without GPS, a full week.

Handsomedan:

Personally, I am super-surprised at how comfortable and unobtrusive the Surge is. .

Certainly comfortable enough, but not exactly discrete IMHO - it is very noticeable on the wrist and mine are big enough to have needed the XL! If I hadn't wanted the GPS for running, I would have definitely plumped for the Charge HR as it is much more unobtrusive.

Yes the size/look of it is one of the the things that is stopping me going that route - plus the fact that I can't swim with it, which is plain stupid of them IMV.

freitasm: Yes, the power cable is a problem - every single model has different plugs, even the Charge and Charge HR are different.

I posted on Twitter today that Surge and Charge HR should use sensors and heartbeat to set the alarm for the best point the Circadian cycle. This well you wouldn't get up grumpy ;)

The only reason I want one of these devices is for the silent alarm function, but I am waiting for one that is better at detecting the 'right' time to wake me up.

Surprising how few such devices seem to offer this.

I got a charge HR, but I hate the 'silent' alarm. It jolts you awake.
I have gone back to my $3 ish iphone app that detects when I am in light sleep and slowly builds up the alarm sound and vibration.

Anyone using a fitbit with windows phone? Just wondering what features it offers and how well they work?

My wife uses the Charge HR with Windows Phone - and I used the Fitbit Flex and Charge with my previous Windows Phone (now on Android).

The app is functionally identical to the Android version.

I see mention of some sort of cortana integration though? So was quite curious about that side of it.   I also don't really know what the android app offers - for example does it allow you to control music playback\volume as well as all the fitness type stuff?

The music control is only on the Surge and it's dependent on the smartphone offering media control over Bluetooth - not sure this is available on Windows Phone.

I wouldn't count on Cortana integration just yet as this is not available for New Zealand (unless you change phone settings).

Yeah I leave my phone set to australia and uk english pretty much all the time now and cortana seems to work reasonably well. And the fitbit app pages says:

CORTANA BETA (US, UK and AU Only): Using Cortana and a custom Fitbit voice experience,
log foods and set alarms with simple natural sentences.

Hmm, actually the fitbit support on windows phone looks somewhat underwhelming:
