@kiwifidget have you registered them as elderly/vulnerable? I think that may open more slots.

Here's a very "zen" youtube channel, called Odd Tinkering, of someone repairing old stuff.

It is zen, because many have no dialog, and no background music. It's very slow paced, and I find it very relaxing for some reason. They are about 15 to 25 minutes.

Here's one of the videos

kingdragonfly: Sleep Radio

Sleep app wants to know my location while I'm sleeping. It refuses to start without it. Does anyone know a good internet radio app I can use for this station?

The "online players" page works through a web browser, you need to scroll down to see them. There's a brief introduction, then should play continuously after that.

He's a well-known and trusted figure, and he's based in New Zealand.

Often people use their mobile phones for an bedside alarm clock. Most phones have a built in web browser, like Safari on iphone or Chrome on Android.

If your phone has a headphone jack (also called a 3.5mm jack), you can add pair of PC speakers. You can use your existing USB charger.

While your mobile phone sits on your bedstand charging, it doesn't need any connection to a phone company. Either use Wifi or you can use the USB cable to copy sleep music to it, and then use it's built-in music player, and press the "loop" button.

I like the free no ads offline player called "Musicolet" from Krosbits. It doesn't connect to the Internet, so you have to copy music to your phone.

There's a lot of free sleep music out there, that you can download once, and play in a loop if you don't want to stay connected, or you travel, and don't want to use the hotel's wifi.

Just search google for this: "mp3" sleep OR "white noise" OR "whitenoise" OR "brown noise" OR brownnoise

"Brown noise", named after a man named "Brown", sounds slightly different than "white noise." I prefer brown noise for sleeping.

This video plays the three variations. Yes it just sounds like "hissing"

My wife had a wobbly kind of day today. It has only been a few days and it seems to be affecting more than you would think.

I blame the unknown element - there are just too many of them. A prison term has a defined end. This does not. Combine it with the economic meltdown that has barely begun and the possible illness scenario as well and it can all get a bit daunting. Especially if you have the kind of brain that unthinkingly attempts to strategise outcomes and scenarios.

I do wonder what will happen in two weeks, or three, or four, or if we hear that it has to go on for an indeterminate time. That is when things may really get difficult. Support your wife however you can. We will need her and others like her.

Hopefully people will see what the situation is like overseas, and what staying at home is doing to prevent that same situation occurring here. We need to get rid of it from NZ.

I'm getting very worried and depressed about the whole situation. I feel like turning off all media.

It's actually a good idea. They're just re-running the same stuff over and over which doesn't help if you are worrying about it. Perhaps check in once a day with media for updates on essential stuff, and make a point of going looking for more interesting/feel good stuff instead.

I now listen to one radio news cast in the morning and then the first ten minutes of the evening TV news (and the weather at the end).

As an on-call worker in an essential industry, my anxiety levels are high enough as it is. I would rather just stay home in my fortress.

Hang in there, team.

If anyone is feeling lonely or stressed or vulnerable and would like to video chat this evening or any evening in the next month or even beyond, just PM me.  it would be my pleasure, whether you and I have connected for any reason in the past or not.

Cheers
Mike
