Saw a good one all the way in Hamilton today.

But I had no idea the trip computer/dvd player and the Odometer even had some much Japanese words.

Can this be undone in any way?

Can you chip it or its just the way it is?

probably be like the honda internavi system and there is no english version because the versions sold overseas didnt have the units, they had a standard headunit type radio and a different trip computer.

so even in the area where the KM and tacho and fuel above the wheel is, it has a little trip computer, ie 300km fuel left. that has Japanese writing next to it. That is normal?

Like this but in Japanese

If you dont like it, then buy a NZ new car instead of a used import from a different country with different languages.

Don't know about Subaru's.

I did have a Mitsubishi system converted from Japanese to English. This was possible because the same system was also sold in English language markets and the vehicle model is a popular second hand import around the world motivating some very keen enthusiasts to figure out a conversion process.

If the system in the Subaru is also sold in English language markets, it may be possible to have the display of Japanese text converted to English - your best bet is to check on car enthusiasts forums.
