Hi,

i want to buy a dash cam but do not want to spend much on it.

Its just because my wife is starting to drive herself and and want to get dash cam for her car.

would be great to see the clip later and point out any mistakes she does, right ...!!

Any idea / suggestions from any dash cam owners or experts ?

Thanks in advance !!

You're a brave man, telling your wife about mistakes she's making with her driving!

I got a Swan one from JB Hifi for around $70, has GPS and takes up to a 32gig memory card. Can record 1080p at 60FPS

I'm on their mailing list and got a discount voucher for it

I've set mine to record in 720p otherwise it fills the memory card in around 3 days (2x 35min trips to work each day). I've attached 2 images from night and day driving below, problem I do have is it doesn't set the time on it from the GPS (tried fixing this the other day and didn't work)

Going by the images, it looks like its upscaled video to me, not 1080p native.

Most likely, I just took a video capture using VLC to get those images

I've just increased the setting to 1080p so will post another example after I take the car out next

No option to loop recording so it writes over the oldest footage until you hit "stop"?

Correct, or if you take a backup of recordings.

I've set it to make a new file after every 10 mins of recording, will help make things a bit easier to find if the need ever came up.

How are people installed their dashcams? Do most people just run it off the cigarette port, professional jobs seem so much cleaner but can be quite pricey?
