If you use it for towing, there is hardly anything comparable that is full electric anyway. I would be alot more concerned if you had bought a brand new non electric small hatchback. As there are practical electric replacements for them available.
gzt: All those cars and no lawnmower? ; )
That's the neighbours yard...

It'll be awhile before you can electrically tow 2700kg I imagine.
Tesla model X is getting close at 2250kg towing capacity

Which is not 2700kg and not $9k. :D
And has 2 places to charge in South Aussie.
What's its range when towing fully loaded?

Quite a long way, as long as you're towing a generator ;-)

I hope you live near a gas station. A friend of mine had one of those and it was getting around 15L/100km. We took it on a 500km golf trip with 4 of us in the car and made the return trip on fumes!
Is this the alternative thread to the "buying an EV" thread :D

It's the thread for people who don't yet understand how serious climate change already is.
Miami is gone....it's just a matter of time. The worst-case scenarios are proving to be optimistic.
So is any comparable city on coast everywhere. The CO2 already released - even if we stopped right now - has locked their fate in.
Keep burning the fossil fuels....and it just gets worse and worse.
Seriously.....this is a problem we all need to own. Bravado and BMWs aren't something our kids and their kids will thank us for.

It's all part of MAGA. Sure, there'll be a bit of collateral damage but once Bangladesh is gone, just think of all the t-shirt manufacturing that can go back to the US.

Well, how about an all-electric BMW i3, perhaps this might be acceptable?
Sure, we all need to own the problem, but how do we stop the Government allowing a huge number of petrol vehicles to continue to be imported each year?
It will probably be many years before the number of electric vehicles imported is greater than the number of ICE vehicles that come into the country.
There are heaps of measures a Government could take to encourage people to buy EVs, such as putting on a high fuel tax and making this available as subsidies for people who buy EVs.
So, should someone really feel guilty if the only practical and affordable new vehicle for them to buy is a petrol vehicle?
When EVs develop to the point where you can buy a new one with the same price and range of a petrol vehicle, then I think you can castigate people who continue to buy petrol vehicles.
But, if someone doesn't want to own two vehicles, and wants to buy a NZ new vehicle for less than $35,000 (not an unreasonable thing to ask) then can someone please tell me where to buy such a (pure) electric vehicle that meets this requirement.
