Finished the process for Toyota Prius ZVW50 2016 JDM Conversion to English:

Looks like the PHV version of that model 2017 should be the same.

That process is extremely complex and will not be done in the field, only at my Lab.

After I've done that conversion on the bench with just that dash I bought from Japan, somebody from overseas told me yesterday - there is  similar versions where English is already in the user menu. Which is good if that is the case. We know that some models  made for Australia and New Zealand do not have any other languages but English - i.e. can not be changed back to Japanese.

Dealer in Auckland who asked me to look into conversion of that Prius model assured me that they have tried on their car but did not find settings in the menu. They are quite experienced so I believed them, but should've double checked myself :-)

That conversion included building very specific stationary gear (can't be used in the field) which I am sure could be utilized in other conversions.

So, positive outcome for the end user: try all menus on your car first before you find out that "intrusive" conversion is required.

For example: today I was at the yard looking at the Nissan X-Trial 2015 fresh JDM import. I have solution for JDM X-Trial 2011 where user menu does not have English. But that 2015 version did have language settings and 2 minutes later dealer was happy to see menu in English :-)

Those who wish to try X-Trial previous models are welcome.
