Can anyone help with step by step instructions how to change the clock on my Jap import 2018 Nissan leaf G spec please? Does the Japanese GPS need to be disconnected to enable the clock to be set to NZ time? How is this achieved? Cant find any information about clock setting for 2018 model anywhere.

No thats the instructions if the panel is in English, mine is in Japanese so doesnt display any of the information shown in the Utube video

Tried that. Didnt work. The buttons on 2018 Leaf are a lot different to the model shown on the Utube clip.

Have you tried the dealer? If you purchased from one, they should know how to sort something so fundamental out, and show you how to do it/provide instructions.

(Or did you import this yourself?)

I've got an older Leaf with a US head unit (in English), which also requires workarounds to set NZ time (but not including disconnecting the GPS) - but clearly no use for the current model!

Or try one of the main Facebook pages for EVs in NZ - there's a decent-sized one specifically for Leafs which I found really useful around the time I purchased our Leaf.

Do you need translation help? Or you cant find the menu option even with translation help?

From the video of the older gen, he disconnects the GPS and forces the dashboard into “failure diagnosis” mode. Then you can manually adjust time and so forth from there.

So if you haven’t tried already, if you have the button 現在地 (current location) you can give it a go. This is assuming theres no setting under the menu (メニュー) button for time (時間).

Go to your dealer.
My ‘new’ 2016 Leaf was bought just before the clock change so was 1 hour out pretty quickly.
My dealer took the Japanese info unit out, temporarily fitted a US unit so as to change the clock (as per some of the You-Tube videos) then refitted the original unit. The GPS antenna is not connected.
Of course this will have to be done again on the next clock change.
Ideally the new Leafs due to be sold in NZ will have appropriate software which can be ported back to earlier models but that is only a hope.

Are you really saying that the car will need to go to the dealer for a info-unit swap-out every time the clocks change - ie twice a year?

Not a direct answer to the OP's question but a potential work-around:

A method that was used on the Gen 2 Leafs (before they figured out how to properly set the clocks) was to disconnect the GPS antenna (to stop the infotainment system from automatically resetting to Japanese time), then disconnect the car battery sufficiently long enough for the clocks to all loose time. Then on the stroke of mid-night reconnect the car battery. Date would be wrong, but time would be right.

After a battery disconnect on the Gen2's the car and infotainment clocks are often out of sync, but as soon as you try to set a charge timer it prompts the system to resync the clocks. Gen3 might be the same, but I have no experience with that model.

This strategy would work on many models of car, so may also work on the Gen3 Leaf.

Regretably thats the current situation on this model until these is a more comprehensive software / firmware solution. Supplying vehicles new to NZ will have to address a host of issues like GPS, maps etc. that import models have and I can only hope the solution can be transferred to the older 2016-19 models.
