We have the option of buying Mitsubishi roof racks with our new Outlander, or we could buy Thules/Rhino/etc from one of the roof rack companies.

Is there any reason to avoid them?

We might be wanting a roof top box and one of those SUP racks in the future. I want to make sure I don't end up with something that is useless down the line.

We got one with our Pajero Sport. Pretty sure it’s just a Mitsi branded Thule one. Our Thule roof box and bike rack got just fine.

I’ve had no issues with it.

I bought Prorack aero bars for my Outlander. They where cheaper and I'm sure they are quieter.

We didn’t get racks with ours. The original ones aren’t a bad price, probably comparable with good 3rd party ones.

Just checked pro rack ones are $549 so $573 isn’t bad considering they will fit them for you.

Couple of things to check;

1. Check the weight rating of the genuine racks vs others.
2. Check the width of the racks. Our roof box clamps didn’t fit the factory racks we got with our Suzuki vitara. Probably not an issue if you don’t already have a roof box.
3. Check the fit of the genuine racks. Looking on YouTube the 3rd party ones seem to be a bit generic and may not give you a good fit.

If you get a an Outlander fitting kit the Proracks fit perfectly.
They are also pretty easy to install.
Got factory racks for a previous car and they had a lot of wind noise
