Anyone got a tracker in their car, ideally with integration to traccar rather than some proprietary platform. Starting to look at devices to replace mine with. I have a device on 2Degrees with 3g. So far I like the look of a Jimni VL103D or M (I dont quite know what the difference is between them).

Any recommendations?

I haven't got this integrated onto any platforms, just running it standalone but i've got a teltonika FMC130. Its been on the 2degrees 4g network, I have it linked to the existing car alarm system and haven't had any issues whatsoever, Its one of those things I've just set and forget.

I had a cheap Aliexpress one that died and then I got a Teltonika from Gowifi. Both were used with Traccar. The Aliexpress one was configured using txt message and some "luck" with instructions from a forum. The Teltonika one I recall the basics could be done by text but there is a full blown Windows app for all the extras, and reasonable documentation.

Would be interested where you end up because I have moved vehicles and not sorted out a long term solution; ideally would end up with a few the same.

Might not be what you want but just have AirTags in car and motorbike. Had something fancier in car previously.

Have you looked in to the Teltonika range? It looks like Traccar supports a heap of Teltonika devices!

I use and have currently got 30 odd FMC125's out in the wild used in GPSGate all with some 10meg IOT Sims,

Go wifi have a huge range of the teltonika devices https://www.gowifi.co.nz/internet-of-things-iot/asset-fleet-management.html I do rate them for ease of use and cross platform compatibility, Also the FOTA Web app is good for remote Firmware updates and monitoring of the devices

I use them with traccar

mine originally came with 3G modems but a couple of years ago I replaced the modem in each one with the 4G version

Comes with the benefit of having a 4G hotspot in the car for the dashcam/ ipad etc

How do you find the Apple network in locating these when you are not near your caer? I did wonder about that but thought maybe the metal/window/etc around the car may block the Bluetooth signals from passerbys to the point it'd be useless.

In a car or motorbike you put in multiple such trackers as they commonly get searched for. The parcel shelf will provide good signal but you'll install them elsewhere in well hidden places, also.
