I knew I'd have to sand, I have some pretty fine sand paper, but may have to get one finer. I'll ask the paint store what kind of primer to use, thanks :)
Not really bothered to make a perfect repair, just good enough.
After using anything on the surface to prep it you need to thoroughly clean it before painting. I would wash it with soapy warm water and then use thinners or turps to clean the surface.
320, 600, 1000 grit should be enough to get it close enough.
