You do realise your speedo tolerance would go out the window with 195/40s.

To the tune of nearly 6%

205/40 16] however... :)

oh dear. i was going to suggest some tyres eg goodyear eagle asymmetrical 2. but i won't coz he's about to crash any time. hopefully not into someone innocent

I run Good Year Eagles as mentioned before on the BMW, Since i swapped them out it doesn't over steer anymore only under steer as they are only on the back.

Assuming that the speedo is driven by a front wheel. If it has ESP the relationship between front and rear diameters will have to be within some limits.

OP should look at other forums for maniac drivers of motorised handbags to see what they've done.

I have only ever had 2, One BMW Vs power pole. BMW didnt get hurt nor pole. Coromandel loop vs CBR250R. Almost went off a cliff. No injury to either.

Judgments aside ;-)

Budget not a consideration and performance a top criteria = Potenza or Toyo Proxes

Don't want to spend a fortune but want a good all round tyre with a performance slant = Toyo TEO+

This will be subjective, but both above have impressed me in the past. Current rubber on the missus' pocket-rocket are the TEO+ (budget constraints!), and to be honest can't fault them.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

Well not my fault for the accident .. I was stopped at a stop sign and the person behind me drove into my boot, she was driving for me you see, she saw the gap and decided I should be going for it, I decided the oncoming car was coming too fast and stayed put and she was watching the car not me .. crunch!

Apart from that last accident was 2 years ago on the motorbike, went around a corner and found some gravel across the road and lost the front, even my amazing skills could not recue me ;-)

Yup going to swap front and back and make sure there is no difference sizes otherwise ESP will trigger and reduce things to a crawl (well until I wire in the ESP disable switch ...)

I've got Eagle Asymmetrical 2s on my Golf, can certainly feel the difference compared to the Continental Sport Contact 2s it came with. They have also lasted surprisingly well given my spirited driving style!

WARNING: Driving another car with lesser tyres afterwards takes some adjusting

I put in the original post :

Current tyre size is 195/50 R15 which is a shade to big on the front (when reversing around a corner it rubs a little bit), so I want to get some 195/45 R15 or 195/40 R15
Also looking at something that is quite grippy as I do like to zoom around corners :-)

Can't really be more specific than that without answering my own question ?!?

Doesn't really matter if it's a Smart or a Datsun .. I have size A on the car now and want to find size B and roughly described that I like to hoon about like a moron when driving.

I've got Eagle Asymmetrical 2s on my Golf, can certainly feel the difference compared to the Continental Sport Contact 2s it came with. They have also lasted surprisingly well given my spirited driving style!

The ContiSportContact 2's come in the size I'm after, the Eagles don't ... the Contis feel nice to drive with ?

well you could tell us what tyres are on the car now.

without a baseline any recommendations are meaningless.

you might as well get linglongs.

and yes it does matter what car they are going on.

eg. those contisportcontact 2's do well on medium to heavyweight cars but not so well on lightwieghts.
