lucky015: Ive had good luck with this stuff not sure if it would work for that purpose however.

+1 for this stuff.  It's great for removing pretty much anything sticky, and is available from most supermarkets.

I use Desolvit quite a bit for other stuff. I might try a hair dryer to soften them up, and see if I can't peel one away, then use Desolvit to remove any residue (bonus is that it smells nice).

Haha, yep. My main worry is trying to remove them, and not being able to actually get them completely off the glass. They do not look bad where they are now, and they are relatively unobtrusive, but because I am tall, they can be in line of sight (they are on the windscreen but would be completely blocked by the sun visors). They are on both sides of the windscreen also.

I think you will be fine with the hot air gun and desolvit, my glas insurance was more hinting at another way to sort it.
