ludez: You could buy my vw passat thats got a towbar yet has never towed a thing in its life: ) and its manual
BTR: Why not a proper 4wd over a Rav like a land cruiser or Toyota Surf?
:)
lxsw20: Toyota didn't get OBD2 in Japan/NZ until about 2000. You can pull codes on cars pre 2000 by bridging a couple of terminals on the diagnostics connector, which flashes the codes on the CEL. Not standard OBD2 so not android compatible.
DravidDavid: You can get a decent Legacy GT for 3K.

Well, it will be decent after being completely rebuilt at least
MikeAqua: I suspect Celica was perhaps meant to be Delica - a Mitsubishi van?
+1 for P11 Primera. I put 200,000+ km on a sedan P11, with no major issues.
Agree that old subarus should be avoided. They are lovely vehicles when new but mechanically complex, so when things start going wrong it gets expensive fast. Buy at 5 years sell at 9 years is good rule of thumb for soobies.
