I have a Mazda3 and haven’t experienced the indicator problem. When changing lanes I normally push the lever into the first detent to use the triple-flash feature, but on odd occasions I accidentally push it into the second detent and have never experienced the problem you described when manually cancelling it.

Others have given good descriptions of how the triple-flash feature works, so make sure you understand this. If you’re still convinced there is a fault then maybe try experimenting when the car is parked, using varying amounts of physical pressure to gauge whether the system is behaving consistently.

I’ve never used the satnav, but I believe the GPS antenna is located within the dashboard assembly so check that there are no obstructions anywhere on the dashboard. The handbook will have more information about this, though you may need to refer to the smaller handbook that is specific to the satnav. Is the fault occurring consistently in a particular location?

If the indicator stalk is in the on position for lets say a right turn, and you manually flick it back the to neutral position to cancel the right turn indication, it shouldn't trigger the left turn lane change feature.

Either you are forcing the indicator stalk back to far and hitting the left turn trigger point or the left turn trigger point (switch) is wrong.

I tried to reproduce this in my Mazda 3. I can reproduce the behaviour mattwnz is seeing easily enough in one direction, but had to make a conscious effort to do it if I had already wilfully indicated in the opposite direction. As you state, you have to go well past the neutral position before it kicks in.

It can be turned off via the Vehicle tab on the Settings app. Select 'Turn', then uncheck the 3-Flash Indicator option

Thanks for that, I had forgotten about those settings, and I think it is enabled by default. I have disabled it to see how that goes. At the very least if it does flick back and engage the other direction, it won't flash 3 times, it will probably only flash once.

Why are you manually turning the indicator off?

If you are changing lanes flick it in the required direction and let it go, it will flash for 2 or 3 seconds and stop. You don't need to do anything to stop it.

Unless you are turning a corner there is no need to move the indicator stalk far enough for it to lock on.
