Yes that's what I meant.  Thanks for the reply.  I think an external mic is worth it.  In my case too much ambient/tractor noise in the Pajero for an in-head-unit mic!

Do you mean in the Pioneer unit?  In which case yes, it had an external mic you could route to a sensible location, which in this case was up above the speedo/rev counter dials under the dash lip.

 

Works extremely well, where as the inbuilt mic in my China stereo doesn't work very well at all, unless you should hard out.

Sweet, I couldn't find the exact link as Repco doesn't have an online shop component to their website.

Here we go, found an photo of the install on my phone.

Came in at $187 on special in March at Repco.

Includes external mic for clear hands free, and the ability to say 'Hey Siri' or press and hold a button on the stereo to start Siri listening.

This was the mechless one but there was another model with a CD player for $10 more.

External Mic - best option. 

 

Also, while your at it, a decent band expander / amplifiyer wouldnt go a miss either.
