Thanks for the feedback all. 

 

 

 

Noticed that the Schedule Ride feature was available when I checked Uber again when I was back home in my apartment in Newmarket, however this feature doesn't come up when I am in my office in Albany.  Logic would suggest that this schedule ride feature is only available in high density areas like Central CBD and the isthmus.

When booking taxis back in Auckland for a flight, I would suggest booking through Air NZ. The booking definitely goes through the taxi company's despatch so its recorded, the fare is fixed and generally reasonable for a taxi (about 2x-2.5x the cost of a shuttle), its with co-op (blue bubble), and you get a meagre allocation of AirPoints too.

 

If Uber is viable though I'd use that. Used it successfully in both San Francisco and Brisbane. In San Fran it was even a 60km journey to the airport.
