I've just bought a Mazda Axela as well and have been looking at the OEMAudio units too.
Anyone had any dealings with Slap! Car Audio in Wellington?
indapie2000: The install took about 3 hours to complete, the guy that OEMAudio recommend in Wellington is based out in Avalon, Lower Hutt (based out of his house.) The guy offered me a courtesy car for while he did the work which was good.
After installing it, the guy went through all the functions and explained how it works.
The unit itself fits very nicely with the rest of the dash. It seems to be WinCE based with a custom shell application running overtop (setup by OEMAudio I assume.)
Everything works as it should apart from the iPod connector, I contacted OEMAudio and they said that ab activation update was meant to ve applied to the unit before sending to me, so they are going to send the file on an SD card.
Because my car came with a factory Bose audio system, they had to bypass the amp because it only works with the factory headunit.
The speakers inside all work but the sub needs an external amp to be powered. OEMAudio recommend that I get an amp installed anyway as the sound would have a 'pop' sound when turning car on and off and a low buzzing sound without it, haven't noticed the buzzing/hum but there is a slight pop when turning unit on and off, so currently looking for a cheap good amp to get installed.
thats great, what did it cost all up, ( pls give breakup (unit cost ) + (install cost) ) thanks :)

Cheers for the update. Is the system quick(ish) to boot?
I don't think mine has a Bose system installed. The current headunit is a Pioneer one, so hopefully that will make it a lot simpler to install

Here's a quick startup video I did this morning and a swipe through the main menus (apologies in advance for the music! That was just the radio station :D)

try inserting like a youtube clip via a SDcard/ flash disk and see if its smooth or it stutters. Also pls do give a feedback of screen mirroring too :)

Just tested a 1080p video downloaded from Youtube and it played fine, no obvious lag.
Mirrorlink seems to be a bit problematic for me, I followed this guide and installed on my old/rooted Nexus 6. It detects the phone and downloads the "easy connect" software and an app called "drive mode". If I quit that app then the phone disconnects after about 5 seconds.
Might have better luck with an actual Mirrorlink-supported device.
