Why's your internet so slow Tim?
It's probably the potholes. Council is on their way to fill them in with dayglo pink seal.

They fill pot holes with a ready mix made up of their policies and ideas. But it doesn't seem to hold up.
Its slow because Bigpipe are so cheap they transport data in trucks instead of fibre....
Edit: ^Oh yea all credit to me for the photo, Do note was not operating a motor vehicle while the photo was taken. Can neither confirm or deny operating one leading up to the photo and after.
This cycleway is all fake news anyway.
It is not pink as the Herald states but is actually magenta according to a govt release. According to Mr Simon Bridges,
"The design converted the disused Nelson Street off ramp into a walking path and cycleway, easily recognised by its distinctive magenta-coloured asphalt."
and also said of the same cycleway,
"This shows that if you build quality, safe infrastructure for active modes of transport, there are many people who are keen to use it,"
Simon Bridges is now Communications Minister, he now is the minister responsible for the UFB build...
As for the cycleways, there's another $300M plus waiting to be wasted used.
"Bike Auckland chair Barb Cuthbert said the resurfacing was planned for January when fewer people would be using it."
That's a joke - whenever I've seen it, there's been nobody on it.
Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

More waste of rate payers money. I think I saw someone on it one morning the other week so that in the eyes of the cycle lobby justifies the $18mil. Just wait until the $35mil plus harbor bridge cycleway starts to fade..

I can actually see a use for the walk and cycle way under the bridge. It means i can walk to home to devonport if we run out of money in town at 3AM.

Are people actually going to pay to go over a cycleway on the bridge? I can't believe it isn't free or ratepayer subsidised, because cars can travel for free. It also has eh benefit of reducing car traffic on the road. They are also getting good value from those nipon clipons

Well except you need to pay to use the bridge. I heard it was a few dollars each way according to the news.

Considering the boys made it from Ponsonby to the exit before Onewa the other week im sure a little toll wouldn't stop us. Fortunately that night i had money for a Taxi, You wouldn't find me walking the harbor bridge. They all got a $150 fine hahahaha.

I have used it several times, it is a great way spending a Saturday morning with my daughter on the back of the bike. Every time I have used it I have always seen plenty of people on it. Most times I have driven past it there have been people on it as well.
Pffffft, bloody Aucklanders. Green is where it's at:
Yep, green in Wellington too.
Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

If you weren't driving, it looks like you were you sitting on the drivers lap when the photo was taken.
Try Vultr using this link and get us both some credit:
scuwp: Bigger picture is that people can't keep using their cars, we will run out of room eventually. You just can't keep building roads. While the cycle and walkways may not exactly be bustling now it's future proofing the infrastructure for a slightly different transport environment for the next generation. But yes...Auckland pink, why??????
Agree that more roads are not the answer. But cycleways are not the answer either. Compare cycleways to buses or trains. Both move far more people than what a cycleway ever will. Also cycleways are not suitable for people with disabilities or who don't have a good level of fitness. And their location means that they will only be used by rich people who can afford to live close to the city. Yet because they are paid for by all ratepayers, They are another case of poor people having to pay to subsidise the rich.
Council Don't care in the slightest for the next generation. If they did they would sort out their restrictive housing policies. And do some proper land use planning. Instead of examples like the Stonefields development - Plonk a whole lot of high density housing in an established area. Without thinking of where those people will go to for work. Then wonder why traffic congestion is so bad.
