The metal trauma of an accident can cause amnesia too. I've experienced that myself.
Not surprised with metal trauma - sounds painful.
Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

In my case I just put it down to being old!

Similar to what you may have done, i hit my head the other week running up stairs on a joist. Like launched myself like a rocket into a joist.. I can't remember it happening, I just remember my mates freaking out and mopping up blood from my skull and then we got back to it, Just thought it was a glancing blow that just cut skin..
Had a raging Friday night, Raging Saturday night and found myself super super tired and drowsy Sunday. Thought it was just the hang over and I didn't think much of it. Got to work Monday and I couldn't focus at all, vision was coming and going and my head was pounding. Turns out I concussed myself badly. I never thought anything of it at the time and thought I was fine (I am of that mentality...)
Doctor called the office and said I was not to work for at least 5 days.
I slept around 18 hours after A+E on Monday..
Take any form of head knock seriously, punches, airbag detonations, minor knocks like on scaffolding or a joist..
Take care.
