crash sensors are on the metal bumper, you are drilling the plastic bumper cover to fit the parking sensors. I guess if the drill was to suddenly break thru the plastic and smack straight into the sensor on the metal bumper then it could trigger it, but I have seen a friend smack their car into a low concrete wall quite hard and not trigger the airbags even with totally destroying the plastic cover so that hit must have to be pretty hard to trigger the airbags.

I now have this mind picture of hoons sneaking up and giving someones bumper a hefty kick to make their airbags go off for a jolly wheeze.  I bet you could effectively write off a car that had a few bags, and was several years old.
