CYaBro: Well we are getting a brand new one now.
With the $10k off and 1/3 1/3 1/3 interest free payment deal, Plus our trade in, just made it too good a deal not to.
Waiting on delivery and tow bar fitting now.

I’d be interested to hear what you think in a few months.

So it's been a month since we got the new Pajero and we love it.

Wife has really put it to good use already, and it doesn't look like a new car anymore. :(

The one annoying thing we've found so far is the speed sensing auto-locking doors.

It's a nice feature except that the doors don't unlock again unless you do it manually once you've stopped.

So if you've been driving and just jump out and walk to the back of the car to open the boot, or one of the other doors, you can't because it's still locked!

This can be changed by the dealer to auto unlock again when the car is put into Park apparently, so am going to get them to do that next week, when it goes in for it's 1500k check up.

We got a 2016 Pajero Sport VX a year ago November 2017) which was $42k and was an ex lease vehicle with 20000km on it. In a year we have done 40,000km and it is great. Last week included picking up a 2.5T excavator and trailer from the hire company, which it managed fine although you knew there was some weight behind you. Needed the 4wd to get the trailer and digger out of the paddock after the rain. Crawled out with 4wd low and diff lock/ traction control no problems
Gets around 35mpg of diesel.

Pajero and Pajero Sport are totally different vehicles. Pajero Sport is the same platform as the Triton while the Pajero is it's own, much older, platform.

It's like the Prado and Fortuner/Hilux Surf.

I've got a Pajero (in the UAE) and it's great but very dated (and thirsty in 3.5l petrol version).

Yes - Mitsubishi seem to like this confusing naming system:

Pajero - Is a heavy duty full off road Pajero

Pajero sport - entirely different with nothing in common with the regular Pajero above

Outlander - Larger SUV

Outlander sport (in America - we know it as ASX) - Smaller SUV - Nothing in common with the Outlander above.

My understanding is that the Pajero Sport isn't too far behind in off road capability than the larger Pajero.

I think mine is a bit too old to be useful. It's 2001 3500cc petrol GLS, and I have had it since early 2005. It was super smooth to drive when I got it, but is starting to feel its age now. It is still a very comfortable vehicle with seats that feel like you are sitting in your lounge. It will go anywhere, and has never come remotely close to getting stuck, and it has been to the tops of a few mountains, and on soft beaches. It has never failed a WOF except for a frayed seat belt and chipped windscreen. Don't ask about fuel consumption. I try not to think about it.
