gooki: I hired a Tesla Model S from snap rentals. $208 for the day plus $11 for excess insurance from a third party.

Flew from Christchurch to Auckland then drove down to Hamilton and back again. Snap are happy for you to return the Tesla empty at no extra cost.

All up it was less that flying return from Christchurch to Hamilton, plus I had my own transport once in the Tron.

I was planning to spend the night camping out in the Model S boot to save on hotel costs, but ended up with same day flights.

All up, highly recommend.

I  rented a model S off them a couple of months back for my Daughters wedding.Yes like you say you can drop the car off and not have to concern yourself with charging it back up.Europ Car, same deal.I drove from Mangere to Tauranga with no range anxiety .Good on them for offering a Tesla for a rental.I found the big screen a little hard to get the used to and it is not that easy to just jump in and start using.I reckon you would have froze trying to sleep in  a Tesla ,Hamilton can get pretty cold .

The awesome thing about sleeping in Tesla's is you can keep the heat pump on so the temp is stable.
