The BMW Digital Key ? Unlock your overpriced vehicle by holding your (non waterproof, not stolen, virus free) phone next to the door handle while carrying all your shopping without look like a complete idiot.

Not that I'll have to worry about that until its about 6th hand and Android is but a distant memory.

Edit - BMW’s Alexa-style Intelligent Personal Assistant sounds pretty useless as well, or am I just being cynical ?

The trend of shining bright lights in the eyes of other drivers with super-bright brake lights and Daytime Running Lights (like a Nazi interrogation lights) particularly those that are very closed to the indicators. It's hard to tell if the car is indicating or not and the whole time you're trying to figure it out your retinas are getting seared, so then you have big black-spots in your vision. I notice some marques are now muting the adjacent DTRL when indicating which is a partial improvement. I don't reckon they'll improve safety in the long term because so many people will be subconsciously trained not to look directly at other cars and rely on peripheral vision protect their sight.

You might want to edit the "N word" out of that so you don't get in trouble...

Haha I was only thinking the other day why has my Mitsi Pajero Sport SUV automatic (aka Diesel brick) got flappy paddles?  Cos I need to pull away from traffic lights in a hurry so I drop it a few gears and stomp on the accelerator - YEAH RIGHT!

That the electric windows are on a timer through the ignition. Every car I have had does this. Why? It is utterly pointless and even potentially dangerous. The windows should just operate all the time, like the unelectric kind do. What purpose is served by having the windows stop working after the engine stops? They can only be opened from the inside so it can't be a security feature. It doesn't matter if the kids fall out after the car has stopped so it can't be a safety feature. What is the point?

Rear fog lamps on (mostly) Euro cars.

I see the point of them, I just wish that while they were on, there was a message on the dash saying 'Your super annoying really bright red light is on, annoying anyone who might be following you on this perfectly clear day just so your car looks cool with it's front fog lights on'

Just to defeat 75% of the convenience such a feature offers, they hobble it so that it only works on the drivers window, so you still need to put the key back in the ignition to wind up the other 3 windows (well on Toyota's and Nissan's at least). That's as dumb as putting a run flat tire on one wheel only!

Indicator automatic cancel feature - continuously prematurely cancels.

In 2 of my last 4 cars this was counter productive and entirely useless. I thought it was supposed to save you the small effort of cancelling the indicators but it requires you reset the indicators 2 or 3 time times every time you turn a corner, leading to a net increase in effort of about 200% over if the car just didn't have the feature. I often wonder if this is why many kiwi drivers don't appear to indicate anymore - either they did and the indicators cancelled before you noticed, or they've just entirely given up fighting the car.

I have had that on some cars. It is usually just a matter of adjustment.
