Engineering developments trickle down. We've been facing various forms of a 'bleak future' for years, but continuous development of technology eventually has a flow-on effect.

And sorry, Bugatti isn't going to stop making cars and start making windmills.

Given it's from the VW stable you are probably right. If our grand children are to stand a chance the current blind selfishness needs to stop.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

VW is about to launch the ID3, overnight SEAT announced an electric MEB SUV and there's ruminations of an electric Lambo. They're probably doing everything they can at the moment; sending a Veyron down a track at 300mph isn't going to be the difference between them doing something environmentally friendly and not doing it.

If you want to complain about a German car company doing almost nothing, start with BMW.

I would love to have seen him brake full on to a standstill at the end, just to see how long that took!

That's not something you'd do without LOTS of space on either side (which they didn't really have) in case there was a catastrophic failure of the brakes and loss of control.

Agreed it would be interesting to see how long it takes to stop from 500Kmph.

They did a speed test with a Chiron; 0 to 400 kph and back to 0. The car took 42 seconds to complete this, including about ten seconds of braking.

From what I read on Top Gear's website the gearbox and 4 wheel drive system are stock Chiron.

The engine is a development of the Chiron's 1500 bhp unit.

From other information I've watched\read, Bugatti release 2 new models a year, and this year they've done that with the Bugatti La Voiture Noire unveiled at Geneva earlier in the year, and the Bugatti Centodieci which debuted at Monterey car week. Interestingly enough, the Centodieci previewed a 1600 bhp engine.

It's probably a safe bet that the engine that took the Chiron to 304 mph is the engine that was previewed in the Centodieci.

Chatter suggests a Chiron Super Sport (looking like the car that went 304 mph) will debut at Geneva next year
