I spoke too soon, my ES4 has developed some sort of fault.  It feels and sounds like the front wheel is rubbing and it loses power, like the (electronic) brake is on while just riding along normally.  it 's intermittent but frequent.  If applying the brake while its doing it, it makes a hell of a grinding noise.

Anyway, it's back at the shop now for warranty diagnosis and repair, and I'm back on the bus.  Be interesting to see how efficient the Ninebot warranty process is in NZ.  I'll report back.

9 days on, I have now received a txt from the retailer that the repair agent has assessed it and found the motor to be faulty.  The parts have been ordered and there is a 15 working day lead-time apparently!!

I sent them a reply txt to say thanks for the update, and to let them know that I'm not overly impressed with the turnaround time... and I got charged 20c for sending a txt to one of those dicky 4-digit numbers.😐

Question... with the phone app allowing you to "access" the scooter how would two people share a single scooter? I know someone who is looking to purchase one - he will use it one day and then another family member will use it another.

@BuckoNZ . You don't have to use the app to use the scooter (except for the initial setup possibly).   Because I don't leave mine unattended I just turn it on and off as needed and jump on.  You can 'lock' it with the app.  This will then prevent someone from turning it off and will apply friction, flash the light and sound an alarm when someone tries to wheel it away.  If I was to leave it outside a shop or somesuch though I would use a bicycle lock (through the backwheel) to tie it to something.

The app is pretty naff to be honest.

Got my scooter back last Friday.  Appears to have been repaired successfully under full warranty (motor and motherboard replaced).  I was without it for 5 weeks and 2 days  (apparently 15 business-days wait for a replacement motor), not particularly impressed with that.

Won't blame the retailer for that as they are at the mercy of the repair agent I expect, although their communication could have been better.  Received just the one txt message update from them during that whole time.  I found out it was ready for pick-up by logging on to check on the repair status, although in fairness this was only the day after they received it back from repair, so I expect I would have got a call or txt that day.
