No, it kind of assumes that CC is the largest existential threat to have faced humanity, which is the message continuously being touted on the media - so much so that I am actually beginning to believe it.

And if we will only accept solutions to it that have no downside, we might as well stop bothering and start driving V8s again.  I sometimes wonder what the Green Party reaction would be if someone developed an amazing crop that reduced cow emissions to zero and was easily converted to bio-diesel, but depended on genetic engineering.
