Wow what a rip off, 3k from the stealership, even $800 a bit high for second hand, I guess that doesn't include fitting!
It's pretty simple to unplug the old one and fit a compatible match from the wreckers.

How about this.

I'd be wary about buying one off TM and installing it - if it has an incorrect/bad mapping on it, you can kill the engine completely.

Getting someone who knows what theyr'e doing to re-map isn't cheap.

Go with the mechanics, at least you've got some come back if somethings not right.

Buying from a known company that gives a 3 month warranty is ok, as for remapping, there's no "remapping" as such involved, if the correct ECU is fitted, plug and play, sure sometimes you may get something that's not quite "running" correctly, but pretty easy to get most reputable mechanics workshop to connect up "Mutt ll" software and help get it sorted if it's needed.

Picked up car today. What a lovely sound when the key was turned!

Paid $1400 which I was expecting. Would have bean a good few hours labour to get it all going again.

Fingers crossed for a while till I forget this😕

i don't know about paying for their labour (took an incompetent teen me once upon a time about 30 mins to rip out my ECU and put it back in)

but you sure are paying for their abilities, tools to diagnose, and the insurance that if they fitted another ECU and the car blows up it's on them
