Bung: The engine appears to use one belt from crankshaft to one camshaft and another belt coupling both camshafts. So 2nd belt is quite short. Smells complicated, if VW put a time limit as well as a km limit I'd follow their advice.
That would be a good idea if you lived in Europe where it can consistently get below zero during winter and cause alot more problems with belt shrinkage and cracks but we don't, I've always gone with the 100,000KM rule and never had one go bung yet
