Here's a video of the file obtained off one of these. Colour not quite as bad in the original file (YouTube didn't much like the file when processed).

Ok,. thats even worse. I like how the pacing of the frames is all messed up.

How are people installed their dashcams? Do most people just run it off the cigarette port, professional jobs seem so much cleaner but can be quite pricey?
I used piggy-back fuse holder and a 12V to 5V step down power supply and solder the wires. The power wire is tucked into the roof lining and down the passenger 'A' pillar and down into the fuse box. The additional fuse holder is inserted into the ACC fuse. The ground wire is screwed into the car's chassis. This approached meant I did not have to interfere with any of the car's OEM wiring and totally reversible (apart from the screw hold used for the ground).
I got a Dash Cam from pbTech.

I did not pay the $122. I paid $66.61 + GST special one day deal.
Here is a sample HD Video Recording from it:
Looking at that uploaded footage jimbob79 the number plates are nigh on impossible to read, is that just compression from uploading to youtube or does the original footage have the same issue?

Perfect case of the backdoor rebranding I alluded to :) . https://dashboardcamerareviews.com/g1w-gs108/
My version started to generate an awful background sound with the video. And apparently common for the chipset used.

Its just because my wife is starting to drive herself and and want to get dash cam for her car.
would be great to see the clip later and point out any mistakes she does, right ...!!
In that case you might as well start practising now. Repeat after me "My ex-wife...".

I Find it does capture the plate, but you do have to be directly behind the vehicle and stationary (like waiting at a round-about).
I'm not sure if YouTubes compression alters the picture. I was taking a RAW .avi file (HD1080) and converting it a .mov file, before uploading.
From memory my mini803 catches the licence plate of cars I'm following ok.
No show of getting a car approaching at open road speed limit though.
All this talk of cams, reminds me I need a new cam for our second car. Hopefully not have a live cigarette socket all the time though..
A.
The might car mod guys installed a dash cam which also had rear facing cam as-well.

It seams that the backvue cams are a premium product.

... problem I do have is it doesn't set the time on it from the GPS (tried fixing this the other day and didn't work)
That's odd, I've got the exact same one and it seems to work fine. You've done this, right?
I'm expecting I've done it wrong, can you link the instructions on this so I can double check?
It seems you're right and I'm wrong. I checked this last night and the clock on all recordings is 2 hours behind. Checked the timezone on the cam and it was set to GMT +11, I reset it to GMT +13. Then after a drive this morning checked the setting again and it had reverted to GMT +11.
Auto-correct is why I have crust issues.

Interesting, is it possible to upgrade the firmware on it?
just updating..
Borrowed a dash cam from one of my work mates and it looks the same one as said by @Rickles on bed bath website.
Just plugged in today, might give more update on quality of video and of course "Driving" after watching the footage.
Might even post that on YT to y'all to see
