So I currently have 2 V8's and the Mrs has a diesel. All BMWs

Awesome. I'm a BMW fan myself. Any manuals?

No Sir, Only in the X3 range with a 2.5 or 3L 6'er for the SUV's of that generation.
Last manual 5 series was the E39 and 3 series E90 in NZ. We can order manual 5 and 3 series from Europe still if you can wait a few months. Everything before that you can get in Manual, But be ready for the premium. Best options for a sports car would be a coupe E36 M3/328I M sport.

Oh god, Last time it was some dude who had his M3 in his living room.

There's a diesel e53 manual for sale in Adelaide. Mrs already has a diesel so didn't want another. And my other V8 is an e38 740iL so not a manual either.

The thing about gas stations is they are open to the public , unlike most people's homes ......

I'm all in favour of EVs but there are some doubts in my mind, about the practicalities.

E.g. @Tripper1000 might have a house and a garage. What if you belong to generation rent and do not have a garage. You might drape a lead out the window through the rain to your car. That's probably ok if you're off street but what if you park on street?

Is your local H&S rep going to let you drape leads over the footpath?

What if , due to parking congestion, you were unable to get a park outside your house last night? What if your street is too narrow to have parking ?

What if you live in an apartment with no allocated parking?

We're going to need a solution for people in these situations.

It's hard to beat the ability to fill a car with standardised fuel in a few minutes at any fuel station worldwide.

These problems are all 1990's problems and have been solved. Check this video out - charging points in lamp-posts is how they are solving this very issue right now in London and Germany. The infrastructure, such as wiring and pillars, is already there, they're just retro fitting smart outlets.

But ultimately cars will sort this out refuelling/recharging on their own. The goal of autonomous cars is not about taking driving duty away from humans, it is getting one car doing the work of many. For instance, after you get to work in the AM, your car takes itself home so the Mrs can use it to take the kids to school, then it can go Uber'ing when neither you or the Mrs need it. Ultimately, the car will drop you at your front door, and go park it self somewhere where it will be refuelled/recharged.

Do people with EVs stop traveling and buying imported goods or good made with imported ingredients (inc local ingredients shipped overseas for processing)?

The fact that I don't drink takeaway coffee means I'm helping save the planet from coffee drinkers who probably drive EVs and travel a bit.

One hand on the wheel, the other patting themselves on the back

I know of an e53 X5 manual in both Wellington and Christchurch. Both 3l diesels and I think they are both NZ New.

[e] Hold on, are we only talking about v8's in manual ?

Sadly no.  An EV boat with the speed, range and sea-state capability of my boat would not float - due to battery weight (with current technology).

Drag (wetted surface and prismatic) kills it.

I use about 1L every 1.8km cruising.

EV does seem to work for short range, slower, flat-water, near-shore boats e.g. long-thin hulled catamarans that do less than 20 knots and in kayaks (flat hull, short range, low speed).
