This .... https://www.bikeexchange.com.au/blog/2018-giant-full-e-1-pro-electric-mountain-bike-review

The engine starts to work based on the torque of the peddles, so when you start to peddle harder the motor picks up the load. Just cruising along, then its off. Gives a far greater range and more natural feel to cycling.

My hiko pulse does the same, but yeah rare motor is less natural, I'm happy so far.

I thought most of them work that way (assist mode, with the power setting typically allowing 100%-300% boost from the battery)

So just a little feedback, if anyone would be interested (I end up with Hiko Pulse).

I commute from Te Atatu South to CBD (used to be 17.5km each way, now 16.4km), single charge is enough and there's about 1/3 or 1/4 left. So that give the range of about ~50km in total. I charge daily, and it uses about 400-450 watts to fully charge

I've done almost 4000km since 1 March to date, but had 6 weeks holiday. My rare tyre (maxxis pace) is almost wasted already :( not sure what is the normal range for bicycles' tyres? It's soft and I don't like it as I have a puncher about every second week. Ordered a different tyres (Schwalbe Land Cruiser), should be with me this/next week + sealant to try out.

I experienced a similar problem with the tyres on my own bike (a standard non-e model) - I wasn't as patient as you, and after three flat tyres in the first two weeks I switched to a particularly robust pair of Schwalbe tyres, can't recall the model - I didn't have a single flat tyre from that point forward. I hope you have similar experience!
