If you take 25%+ below as worse case scenario, you could pick say 15% for NZ. More for Electric

Clawhammer: I would be interested to know how much difference using the A/C or heater on makes to how many kms E.Vs will go. ... In a pure EV there is only one source of power so this must affect Km capacity.

 

My Leaf indicates anything between -1 to -10km range difference, depending on the outside temperature.

 

Going through my first winter with an EV, I certainly noticed the seasonal dip mentioned by flipthefleet.org.

Have been looking for a hybrid myself. What do you guys think of Mazda Axela Hybrid or Suzuki swift hybrid? There both available in NZ and look great. I like the fact the Mazda can be converted to have carplay in the entertainment unit. Would be great to hear your thoughts on these. Was considering leaf but range anxiety and the waiting to charge thing is a bit annoying. So not until the price drops for a good ranged car.

I've imported a number of cars from Japan for my private use, including ones in the grade 5 category. My advice is read the auction sheets carefully and try to get one that has low Km's (and hence charge/discharge cycles) as possible, perhaps compromising on the exterior grade rating (a few more dents/scratches)

 

There's a big difference in hybrid engine technology between the 2nd gen (prior to 2014) and the 3rd gen (2014+) Honda Fit. The former utilises the Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) technology, which is a small electric motor the provides some additional power to the ICE. The latter uses iDCT which is more akin to an advanced version of the Prius, where the car can run in fully electric mode using regenerative brakes, and only starts the ICE when required, which obviously provides far better fuel economy. The 3rd gen model is also a bit roomier inside.

 

The 13G is good around-town vehicle but will use a bit more fuel on the motorway/highway, while the 2014 1.5L Hybrid has higher power output and (depending how you drive it) superior fuel economy.

 

It all depends on how much you're willing to pay of course.
