MikeB4: Its not the backing that seems to be the issue but the turning in conjunction and spatial awareness.

Yes, I detect the foul stench of a rear parking sensor. Another feature that, if you're caught shopping for a vehicle and that's on your list of essential criteria, should alone be grounds to revoke your driver's licence.

joker97: btw ... am I missing something but there is no NZ day

You are missing that we have waitangi day which other than a few protestors is pretty much the same thing.

Australia Day celebrates patriotism.

NZ day is a day of friction, conflict and dissension. I don't see them as the same.

Unless you're an Australian Aboriginal, in which case you likely call it Invasion Day.

I don't get your distain for rear parking sensors. Its the best invention since sliced bread. Just have to know how to use it, and also pay attention with your sight as you drive.

When we get to Android in the car then trailer support will be an in app purchase.

If you don't like the price then when you backing you can watch the distracting insurance advertising in the free versions ; ).

I only get my reversing camera out when its time to put the trailer on. Makes it so simple to just wind the jockey wheel down when you have it right over the towball.

The rear visibility of modern cars is terrible, so I would be lost without my reversing sensors. I will ensure that my next car has a reversing camera.

johnr: I was looking for a car park a number of years back around Christmas in the Manukau Warehouse car park and this person was trying to park a car (not even a big car) and they were having that much trouble they reversed right out to take another attempt so I drove straight into the car park and hopped out of the car and walked off

Parking sensors are no worse than any other driver aid, e.g. in-car navigation systems. You just have to remember that you don't switch your brain off when you switch the device on.

I had a woman bite my ear off in a Pak n' Save parking lot last night.

I was patiently waiting for a vehicle to back out of it's park on my left.  A woman in an X5 slowed down in her lane and started indicating right, indicating she wanted to park there.  At this point, I had been indicating my intention to take the park and also had right of way.  I zipped in to the park as the previous person was still partially blocking the X5.

She blared her horn and yelled abuse at me as I got out of the car, holding up traffic in her lane who then started beeping at her.
As I walked out of the Pak n' Save, I saw her car parked almost diagonally across a car park with her right front wheel as near as makes no difference, over the white line.

EDIT:  She had just entered the underground too.  It wasn't like she'd done 10 laps of the parking lot already.  I'm not sure what big cars do to people, but they seem to think they are gods amongst smaller cars.  Men too, not just women.
