It has. Partly, I suspect, by putting the additives in the oil...!

My old Series III Land Rovers mostly leaked like a sieve - many of the gaskets were just paper. We worked on the basis that keeping the bottom covered in mud kept the oil in...!

I can recall when I owned certain English cars I always had in the garage a take home pack of oil and drip trays on the floor

My mazda has 3 years free servicing, so doesn't bother me too much. After 3 years if I still have it, I will just take it to a local non dealer service agent. But it is the first car I have purchased that has a 6 month interval, as others I have had all have 12 months.

Aren't Mazda dealers usually also Ford dealers? Based on invoices I've seen for Mondeo and Territory servicing they don't need extra income from Mazdas. They are not just running both brands on the same schedule as Ford is 12 monthly.
